2018 Season - Week 5

Trading Day 1 This Saturday

We are now just days away from Trading Day 1, on this Saturday October 13th - 7pm @ HQ. Let me know if you will be trading by person, by phone, via email or on the internet via our Trading Day google sheet. If it’s by phone I’ll need the number you’ll be on come 7pm Saturday. We planned it for Saturday evening as BUMS may be going to the London Raiders/Seahawks Game on Sunday, but then we couldn’t get tickets each time they went on sale. Cheryl will be doing food from 6:30pm with first dropped players happening live and online at 7pm. Also after the draft you are welcome to stay on and watch a key SEC College Game as #2 Georgia Bulldogs travel to #13 LSU. If I don’t hear from you I’ll assume you are happy with your team and don’t want to change anyone. Remember if you cut a Franchise player you have to pay him for the rest of his contract so for example:- Wayne would only have a $7.5m budget for the rest of this season if he cuts his retired RB DeMarco Murray and injured QB Jimmy Garoppolo who the 49ers have put on IR. Note, if you cut or sign players from this Thursday night’s game (Eagles @ Giants) then your trade will not be actioned until week 7. As always we cut in worst to first order (all cuts by an owner in one go) then draft one player at a time in worst to first owner order until all rosters are full. The full order is injury effected Wayne, George, David S, Ron, AP, Alex, Aaron, Cheryl, Chief, Dave G, Andy H, Mark, Craig, Johnnie, Daz, and finally Marcus. Attached is a list of the new players who are available for signing, having scored during the first five weeks of the season, together with the player price list from the start of the season. Happy planning, is it time to get ruthless? Remember to let me know by 1pm Saturday how you intend to trade:- by email, phone, google docs or attending HQ. If I don’t hear from you I will assume you are totally happy with your team. Cool Brees & Touchdown Tom A huge congratulations to Drew Brees who on MNF passed both Brett Favre (71,838 yards) and former all-time leader Payton Manning (71,940 yards) to become the new record holder for most NFL career passing yards, which now stands at 72,123. How fitting the play he broke the record on was a 62 yard TD bomb just before half-time. Meantime on Thursday Tom Brady became the third player to throw for 500 TDs joining Brett Favre (508) and Peyton Manning (539) in that exclusive club. It may not be such an intimate threesome for long, the third and final TD Brees threw on Monday was his 499th! It’s quite possible he will own almost all the passing records by the time he retires. Incredibly Nick Saban as Head Coach of Miami preferred Dante Culpepper to Drew Brees back in 2006, no wonder Johnnie calls him Nick Satan. If Saban had taken Brees to QB his Miami Dolphins team Saban possibly would not have left for Alabama and the Crimson Tides’ domination of college football would never have happened! BUMS on Seats As mentioned the Thursday game is Eagles @ Giants but we are not meeting to watch it. We will be at HQ on Sunday at 6pm to see Seattle v Oakland on BBC and will be at Marcus’ on Monday from 7pm to see Chiefs @ Patriots and at Johnnie’s on Tuesday at 7pm to see San Fran at Green Bay. Now, how are you trading?
