2018 Season - Week 1

Short-Handed BUMS

As well as Wayne looking forward to Trading Day 1 to find a replacement for his retired Franchise Running Back DeMarco Murray, now Cheryl needs to plan for a change as her 6th round Tight End Delanie Walker has been put on IR by Tennessee. Meantime Aaron may also be looking to replace a Tight End as it’s been confirmed Greg Olsen has fractured the same foot he broke last year and the Panthers have said they will “monitor him on a monthly basis”. Make a diary note TD1 will be at HQ from 7pm on Saturday 13th October, the day before week 6’s games and also for November 18th which will be your other chance to tweak your team as Trading Day 2 will happen before the week 11 matchups. After that your only changes will be to any player placed on season ending IR by his NFL team. Remember if it’s a franchise player you cut, you will need to keep paying him his 2018 salary, so if Wayne cuts DeMarco Murray he will work with an $8m budget. Craig’s Prediction Challenge Time to get the Crystal Ball out. Craig has sent his Predictions through and like last year wants to know who you all think will A) win the Superbowl, B) lose the Superbowl, C) Who will have the worst record and D) Who will be the League MVP. Please can I have your 4 names by next Thursday 20th September before week 3 please. Our Favourite NFL Franchise There were no surprises amongst our most popular teams as they have all been won the Superbowl behind their QBs. Green Bay, New England, New Orleans and Philadelphia had the most drafted (7 players apiece) while Atlanta, Carolina, Houston, KC & Minnesota had 6. The Jets and Redskins are both not represented on the BUMS rosters to start the season. Marcus in the Marbled Halls Again One week in and one week in the Scoring Hall of Fame for Marcus after his 56 points. The last time someone got off to such a hot start was back in 2013 when Marcus started the highest season score in BUMS history, scoring 58 points behind Peyton Manning’s 7 TD passes for Denver. Marcus has now been in the Marbled Halls 12 times (4th most overall). BUMS on Seats Due to work and visitors we will not be meeting on Friday to see week two’s Thursday Night Baltimore @ Cincinnati game. As Chief is working Johnnie will be hosting on Sunday evening as Pittsburgh host Kansas City followed by Patriots @ Jaguars. We will be back at Johnnie’s on Monday evening to see the Sunday Night match up as The Giants travel to The Cowboys and then at Marcus’ on Tuesday evening to see Chicago host Seattle on MNF. As always all are welcome, let them know if you are coming for catering purposes!
