Draftermath 2018

Player Selection Meeting XXIV

With six BUMS present at HQ and another seven drafting online we had 13 team owners reacting to the picks taken before them. Special mention goes to Aaron who got up at 6am to draft. That meant only three owners had to supply a plan in advance, many thanks to those present for assisting the drafts for others. Hope you got who you wanted. And as always a huge thanks to Cheryl for the fine food she served before the draft. The Experts Choice This year the draft (attached) has been analysed by 8 NFL Fantasy Websites. This includes experts from CBS, ESPN and Yahoo Sports who have predicted how many points each player will score. Mark has the best backfield in the BUMS with first pick Todd Gurley due to score 92.4 and second rounder Devonta Freeman 60.4, giving Mark 152.8 points from his RBs. Defending champion Craig, with his returning Franchise man David Johnson (75.1) and Kareem Hunt (62.3) totals 137.4 points. Marcus is third with 120 points from his double Franchise Running Backs, Ezekiel Elliott (79.5) & Jay Ajayi (40.5). Ron has the best receiving fleet with 133.6 predicted points from franchise wide-out DeAndre Hopkins (61.3), Zach Ertz (41.8) and Randall Cobb (30.5). Second is Chief, just 2.8 pts behind (131.8) with Odell Beckham (56.6), Marvin Jones (42.8) and Jordy Nelson (32.4) and third Daz totalling 130.7 points from franchise man Davante Adams (60.8), Kyle Rudolph (39.2) and Cooper Kupp (30.7). The experts predict Chief (530) will beat Johnnie (502) by 28 points, with Craig third 1 point behind Johnnie. But as mentioned last year, Chief should come first because it’s these rankings he uses in his planning. The experts say George will finish 3 points ahead of Ron (457) who along with David S (440) and Wayne (427) will be relegated. However Wayne has a retired franchise RB (DeMarco Murray) so only had experts’ scores for 7 of his players. Wayne will be able to replace Murray at Trading Day 1 on Oct 13th but will still pay DeMarco his 2018 signed salary of $2m. In the Conference they say Alex will win with 516 points finishing 6 points ahead of Mark, with Daz also getting promoted after scoring 496. This Year Last Year Looking at how this year’s teams shape up based on the 2017 scores, H will win his second Papas Fritas with 501 points, 4 points ahead of Chief 497 and Johnnie 452. This scoring is affected by owners selecting players who missed considerable time last season such as Johnnie who’s QB Patrick Mahomes only played the final game for Kansas City last year. Ron will survive by 7 points as Cheryl (379) will be relegated along with the Craig (367) who had two players miss considerable time and Wayne (288) who had three. Their spots will be replaced by Alex (579), Dave G (575) and Daz (531), while Mark and AP will spend next season in the Conference again. The experts like our hindsight teams have often been wrong, so what is the point of Draftermath, I hear you cry? Well it’s a bit of pre-season fun & speculation isn’t it.
