2017 Season - Week 8
Mea Culpa
Huge apologies from Chief to all after a Trading Day 1 error has been detected. This afternoon after returning from California I have spent about 3 hours double checking all points scored with ESPN’s NFL scoring table through the first 8 weeks of the season. Mark cut two receivers on TD1, Allen Robinson was his second cut, Rob Gronkowski his third. Mark then signed Seattle wideout Paul Richardson in the second round and Houston’s Will Fuller in the third. Because New England had played on the Thursday before TD1 the Fuller for Gronk trade does not take effect until week 6. Although marked with a red box against Fuller, Chief had erroneously scored his 2 TDs when Gronk hadn’t scored. All scoring sheets from week 5 have been corrected. It is also timely reminder that you should all check your teams weekly score and please do let me know if you spot anything wrong.
BUMS Team of October
The five weeks of October saw 16 teams have bye weeks but for $9.5m the best BUMS team scored an incredibly impressive 284 points, enough to lead both divisions overall. The Head Coach of October is Sean Payton(New Orleans & Perivale) with four straight wins, equalling 24 points for just $0.5 million (Belichick and Tomlin also had 4 wins apiece but cost $2m each). Stephen Gostkowski (Patriots & Raptors) cost $2m for 55 points kicked. Philadelphia & Leamington QB Carson Wentz put up 43 points for his $0.5m salary. The running backs are Ezekiel Elliott (Dallas & Phoenix) 42 points and Melvin Gordon (Chargers & Hedgehogs) 30 points, who cost $2m each while the three starting receivers are DeAndre Hopkins (Houston & Gang Green) 36 points $1m, Zach Ertz (Phili & Willoughby) 30 points for $1m and Davante Adams (Underachieving & Green Bay) who for a franchised $0.5m scored 24 points.
NFL Trading Day
A busy Trade deadline saw two BUMS players move to new teams, Marcus’ RB Jay Ajayi moved from Miami to Philadelphia and Chief’s WR Kelvin Benjamin left Carolina to catch passes in Buffalo. Another interesting trade was New England sending backup QB, Jimmy Garappolo to San Francisco. Meantime our Trading Day 2 is 18 days away, 3pm on Sunday 19th November. Make a note in your diary now. How will you be trading?
