2017 Season - Week 4
Trading Day 1 This Sunday
We are now just days away from Trading Day 1, on October 8th – 3pm @ HQ. Let me know if you will be trading by person, by phone, via email or on the internet via our Trading Day google sheet. If it’s by phone I’ll need the number you’ll be on come 3pm Sunday. If I don’t hear from you I’ll assume you are happy with your team and don’t want to change anyone. Remember if you cut a Franchise player you have to pay him for the rest of his contract so for example:- Johnnie would only have a $9m budget for the rest of this season and next year if he cuts his injured kicker Cairo Santos who the Chiefs have put on IR. Note, if you cut or sign players from this Thursday night’s game (Patriots @ Bucs) then your trade will not be actioned until week 6. As always we cut in worst to first order (all cuts by an owner in one go) then draft one player at a time in worst to first owner order until all rosters are full. The full order is Alex, Daz, Aaron, Mark, Chief, George, David S, Cheryl, Johnnie, Dave G, AP, Wayne, Craig, Ron, Andy H, and finally Marcus. (Thanks to Aaron for his random numbers to break the tie of AP, Dave G & Johnnie who are all on 111). Attached is a list of the new players who are available for signing, having scored during the first four weeks of the season, together with the player price list from the start of the season. Happy planning, is it time to get ruthless? Remember to let me know by 11pm Saturday how you intend to trade:- by email, phone, google docs or attending HQ. If I don’t hear from you I will assume you are totally happy with your team.
Out For A Duck?
There are still 30 players who have yet to open their accounts this year and a number of injured players on BUMS rosters. How many are for the chop? And it doesn’t matter how high you were drafted, three first rounders have yet to get off the schnide, Julio Jones, Jay Ajayi and Andrew Luck who Alex selected with the second overall pick. Luck has still to see the field as has Alex’s third receiver Mike Williams. Our second year owner has certainly suffered heavily with injuries so far but gets the first pick on Trading Day 1 in order to right the ship. Six Franchise men have yet to open their accounts. Will owners cut ties with any them and work with reduced budgets? All will be revealed from 3pm this Sunday.
Scoring Hall of Fame
Congrats to Marcus who scored 60 points this week even though three of his players didn’t score. RB Ezekiel Elliott scored 12, QB Russell Wilson 13 and Greg Zuerlein scored 23 points on 2 PATs and 7 Field Goals. That’s one short of the NFL record set by Rob Bironas a decade ago when he kicked 8 against Houston in 2017. It’s Marcus’ 11th visit to the Scoring Hall of Fame.
BUMS on Seats
As mentioned the Thursday game on Sky is New England @ Tampa Bay which we will watch on Friday 6pm at HQ. After Trading Day 1 at HQ on Sunday we will see the Sky doubleheader (teams to be announced). We will be at Johnnie’s on Monday from 7pm to see Chiefs @ Texans and back there on Tuesday at 7pm to see Monday Night Football as the Bears host the Vikings. Now, how are you trading?
