2017 Season - Week 16
A Week To Go In The BUMS
Aaron’s 44 point week moves him to the top of the table three points ahead of Craig and it looks like the 2017 Champion will come from these two. Looking at the standings after week 16 and adding on last week’s score, the extrapolation has Aaron winning his first Papas Fritas Trophy by 21 points. Craig will finish one place short in his attempt to defend his title with Marcus coming in third 18 points behind him. At the bottom Daz’s climb to safety continues and he has passed AP this week and sits 2 points behind George. The prediction has Daz finishing 6 points ahead of George as Brockley join Tring and Westmorland in the Conference next year. The Conference saw its first position change in a number of weeks as Wayne moved ahead of David S by 2 points. Those two will join Cheryl in the promotion spots with the extrapolation having Cheryl winning the Conference on 514 points, 72 points ahead of Wayne. Stampy will be third on 423 with Alex finishing one position short.
Resting Players
The extrapolations above are based on last week’s scores which had all NFL teams playing for positions and so starting all key players. With just a week to go we are now hearing that some teams are planning to rest some stars as they prepare for the playoffs. This could have a huge impact on the final standings. The Rams have announced they will not start Daz’s QB Jared Goff nor Aaron’s star running back and potential NFL MVP Todd Gurley who has scored 48 points in the last three weeks. Meantime the Chiefs have announced they will rest key starters as KC are locked into the AFC’s fourth spot. These changes will include starting rookie QB Patrick Mahomes, so Chief will battle for Premiership survival without his QB Alex Smith. Although Andy H moved ahead of Chief even H in fifth place is still looking over his shoulder as he is only 23 points ahead of the dropzone, while AP (currently 10th) is just nine points from safety. Any two of six owners could be joining Mark in being relegated next week so the impact of more rested NFL players could be crucial.
A Week To Go In The AFC
Out of chaos comes order. Two weeks ago only Pittsburgh and Philadelphia had clinched a playoff berth but now all four AFC divisions have been won and five NFC teams have clinched their post season places. New England (12-3) and Pittsburgh (12-3) have clinched a bye week, with the Patriots holding the tie-breaker. Jacksonville (10-5) are the third seed with Kansas City (9-6) the fourth. So the only battle left is for the two wildcard spots where Baltimore (9-6) have a one game advantage for the fifth seed with Tennessee (8-7) currently holding the tie-breaker for the sixth seed with LA Chargers and Buffalo also both 8-7 still in contention. If Tennessee lose and both the Chargers and Bills win, the Chargers will make the playoffs ahead of the Bills as they won the infamous Nathan Peterman QB game.
