2017 Season - Week 15
A Fortnight Left
Boosted by his eighth visit to the scoring Hall of Fame Aaron has moved into second place and for the third consecutive week our extrapolation predicts a different winner of the Papas Fritas, two weeks ago it was Marcus, last week Johnnie and now Aaron. Despite all this Craig continues to lead the table as he fights very hard to retain his crown. There is no change to the three doomed owners from last week with Mark, George and AP predicted to go down as Daz will rise from his current position of 10th to 7th. H will be the first survivor finishing 10 points above the drop-zone. That said with two weeks to go, everyone from Chief in 5th place (currently 28 points from the drop) are looking in their rear view mirrors! Meantime there is again no change in the Conference order.
AFC Playoff Race Still A Mess
Incredibly only three teams have clinched a place in the AFC postseason - New England (11-3) have won the AFC East (for the 9th consecutive year!), Pittsburgh (11-3) the AFC North and Jacksonville (10-4) have secured a wildcard spot for the first time in 10 years. Kansas City (8-6) and Tennessee (8-6) can both clinch playoff spots in week 16. The Bills (8-6) are in the final playoff spot at present but cannot clinch until week 17 while Baltimore (8-6), LA Chargers (7-7), Oakland (6-8) and Miami (6-8) are somehow still not eliminated.
NFC Playoff Race No Clearer
Just two teams have clinched post season play. Philadelphia (12-2) now has a bye while Minnesota (11-3) have won the NFC North. The Rams (10-4) can clinch the NFC West and end a long play-off drought this weekend, while the Saints (10-4) can win the NFC South and there two divisional rivals Carolina (10-4) and Atlanta (9-5) can both clinch wildcard spots this weekend. Detroit, Seattle and Dallas are all 8-6 and can still gain a wildcard entry but are on the outside looking in with Detroit the highest.
More Injuries
With the Packers now eliminated from post season contention following their defeat at Carolina they have placed QB Aaron Rodgers back on IR, however the most worrying injury may be that of Antonio Brown, the MVP candidate won’t play in week 16 after suffering a partially torn calf muscle. Davante Adams is in concussion protocol after the horrendous crack-back block by Thomas Davis. Head Coach Mike McCarthy says Adams “looks and sounds good”. Meantime Davis was banned for two weeks by the NFL for the hit, but he’s appealed that and it has been reduced to a one match ban. With the first game of week 16 being on Saturday at 9:30pm you have until 5pm on Saturday to replace any player who is placed on IR in your line-up for week 16, so keep your eye on the injury reports.
