2016 Season - Week 4

Trading Day 1 Next Sunday

We are now just 11 days away from Trading Day 1, on October 16th – 4pm @ HQ. Let me know if you will be trading by person, by phone, via email or on the internet via google docs. If it’s by phone I’ll need the number you’ll be on come 4pm Sunday. If I don’t hear from you I’ll assume you are happy with your team and don’t want to change anyone. It’s a great chance to not only get rid of the injured but also those underperforming players. After 4 weeks 25 players have still to get “off the schnide”. Due to injury or suspension 3 first round draft pics and 5 franchise players have yet to trouble the scoreboard! Remember if you cut a franchise player you will need to keep paying him his 2016 salary and if he’s a first year franchise man his salary will count against your cap again next year as well. BUMS Players Hall of Fame Thanks for voting. We had excellent participation with all but two of the BUMS sharing their opinions. Controversially Dave Stamp wanted to vote for just two nominees but when I suggested he award them 10 and 7 points and vote for no one else he cried foul, saying he was being short changed and nowhere in the constitution did it say you couldn’t vote for a nominee more than once, so he gave first, third and fifth places to Terrell Davis (16 points) and second and fourth place votes to Mike Tomlin (10 pts). Ultimately it didn’t matter as both were voted in to the (attached) Hall anyway, along with top vote-getter Ben Roethilsberger and another QB Rich Gannon. This will no doubt upset Stampy who made another of his excellent Rants, this time against Gannon saying “The standard to the hall of fame nominees is actually dropping (because the good ones are already in) - there aren't 12 good players to nominate every season. I'm not endeavouring to re-write the constitution but you de-value the greats if award the same number of points to the also rans .....you had Rich Gannon in your list ........if Farve and Marino are worth 100 then Gannon is not even worth 1”. And now Gannon is a BUMS Hall of Famer, picking up votes from six different voters. BUMS on Seats The Thursday game on Sky is a battle of NFC West 1-3 teams as San Francisco host Arizona but we are not going to be meeting for that one. We’ll be at HQ on Sunday at 6pm to see Houston (3-1) @ unbeaten Minnesota followed by 3-1 Atlanta travelling to another unbeaten team, Denver (4-0). We will be at Johnnies on Monday from 7pm to see the Giants (2-2) @ Green Bay (2-1) on Sunday Night Football and then at HQ on Tuesday at 6:30pm to see Monday Night Football as Carolina (1-3) host Tampa Bay (also 1-3). As always all are welcome just shout if you want in, for catering purposes.
