2016 Season - Week 1

Beginner’s Luck

Probably not, as despite drafting last, he outscored 13 other BUMS in week 1. In fact it could have been even better as he plays the first three weeks with just seven players as his 5th round supplemental pick Le’Veon Bell is serving a suspension. With the third highest score overall the Old England Patriots finished the week just 3 points behind AP and 19 points above the promotion line. Short-Handed BUMS At least three BUMS will be looking forward to Trading Day 1 as they are playing with seven players but for different reasons. Two were cut by their team after our draft the other has suffered a major injury. Andy H saw his beloved Bears cut kicker Robbie Gould just hours after he’d selected him and just last night New Orleans cut Mark’s fifth round RB CJ Spiller. On Sunday Marcus saw his fourth round draft pick Keenan Allen suffer a season ending ACL injury. Make a diary note for TD1 on October 16th before week 6 and also for November 13th which will be your other chance to tweak your team as Trading Day 2 will happen before the week 11 matchups. After that your only changes will be to any player placed on season ending IR by his NFL team. Remember if that is a franchise player you will need to keep paying him his 2016 salary so it may be wise to keep a little money spare after TD2. Our Favourite NFL Franchise There are some surprises amongst our most popular teams but all have the potential of scoring big. Carolina, Green Bay and New England had the most drafted (7 players apiece) while Pittsburgh had 6 players drafted. No surprises there but two other teams also had 6 players selected, Jacksonville and Oakland. Chicago is the only team not represented on the BUMS rosters to start the season, after cutting H’s kicker Robbie Gould, as previously reported. Baltimore had just one player chosen. BUMS on Seats After getting together to see six games in week one, due to work and visitors we will not be meeting at all this weekend to see week two’s games. We should settle into last year’s format from week three onwards, depending on work and a social life – which Johnnie has even if I don’t. That format is Thursday Night games viewed at Johnnie’s while on Sunday it’s the usual Sky double header at HQ from 6pm. We will be at Johnnie’s on Monday evening to see the Sunday Night match ups and back to HQ on Tuesday evenings for MNF. As always all are welcome, just let us know if you are ever coming to any of the games, for catering purposes!
