2016 Season - Week 19
And then there were four
There were four close games in the hunt for BUMSBowl XXI as all of them were decided by no more than one Touchdown. The number 1 seed Leamington Spartans entered Sunday leading upset minded The Misunderstood, the 13 seed, 12-10. After neither scored in the third quarter (Green Bay @ Dallas) the question was could Dave’s QB Ben Roethlisberger score 3 points more than Cairo Santos. In the end Big Ben was held out of the end zone and Craig won 16-10 as he continues his attempt at the first double since Johnnie in 2010. The next person who will try and deny him the double is AP. Entering the second half Tring led Westmoreland 15-6 but after Dan Bailey kicked 11 points Mark led 17-15 going into the final quarter. Behind 4 Cairo Santos points AP re-took the lead with 15 minutes left but if Tyreek Hill could catch a TD pass as the Chiefs drove into the red zone with 3 minutes left Mark would go through. He didn’t and so AP provided the upset 17-19. Phoenix scored all their 22 points in the first half and after Aaron Rodgers only threw 2 TD passes Marcus beat Ron on the momentum rule as his latest scorer was Tom Brady (9.09 left in the 3rd) compared to Gang Green’s time of 11:25 in the third by Aaron Rodgers. Finally Langley held on against Perivale after being tied at 16 at half time. Chief then got two TDs from Aaron Rodgers while Andy H saw Ezekiel Elliott and Randall Cobb held out of the end zone. H needed Le’Veon Bell to score but with the Steelers winning without a TD Chief held on to win 22-16, so the Championship round is Craig (1) versus AP (7) while Marcus (2) hosts Chief (3) in the ACC as Johnnie calls the All Cooper Championship game. Teams to me by 9pm Saturday please people. The Steelers went through courtesy of an NFL posts season record 6 field goals from their kicker. In fact Chris Boswell alone would have beaten 4 of the BUMS teams this weekend including Craig’s winning team! The best Divisional team scored 77 points for just $6.5m, so why didn’t you play Dak Prescott (11pts for $0.5m) at QB, Kicker Boswell (18 for $1m), RB Dion Lewis (18 for $1m), RB Ty Montgomery (12 for $0.5m), WR Dez Bryant (12 for $3m) and any one of eight $0.5m players who scored a TD.
And then there were four
After two dull one-sided home wins on Saturday how good were Sunday’s games? Dallas came back from 18 points down to tie the game up and then we got three field goals of over 50 yards made in the final 1:33 of the game including an amazing 35 yard completion on 3rd and 20 with just 3 seconds left, from Aaron Rodgers to Jared Cooke to set up the winning 51 yard kick. In the final game the Steelers failed to score a TD but with 2:43 left needed a penalty on a successful 2-point conversion to prevent the Chiefs tying the ball game at 18 all. That meant Kansas City had to try an onside kick but Pittsburgh recovered and ran out the clock. So it’s Green Bay @ Atlanta and Pittsburgh @ New England.
