2016 Season - Week 10

Trading Day 2

Like last year Trading Days 2 saw just 17 players traded by nine BUMS. There is a tenth BUM who can still trade (see below) but Andy H and Marcus were busiest cutting 3 apiece, while Alex, Cheryl, Johnnie and Craig cut two each. One trade doesn’t take effect until next week as Marcus picked up Le’Veon Bell to replace Isaiah Crowell but Cleveland had already played on the Thursday before TD2. Remember from now on you only have the chance to change a player if he is placed on IR by his NFL team. Keep an eye on your roster it’s your responsibility to advise Chief if one of your players is put on IR. Each week starts with a Thursday Night game so you need to get your new man to Chief by 11pm on Thursday for him to count in that weekend’s action. Remember if you cut a Franchise Player placed on IR you still have to pay him til the end of his contract. Under those rules George cannot select a replacement for RB Jamaal Charles as he has spent his entire $10m and so has no money to pay a new signee. The initial analysis of the trades, shows Andy H and Marcus were most successful, their new players outscoring the old by 6 points. As mentioned in the newsletter last week “If you have advised Chief you are trading but miss the whole trading 2 hour session (4pm til 6pm) you will have four days grace and can makes changes in time for week 11 by sending your cuts and replacements to Chief by 5pm on Thursday, November 17th.” That said I wasn’t thinking of an Earthquake and Tsunami, but sadly that is what New Zealand suffered on Sunday and so David Stamp has an extra week to make his changes. I am pleased to report that the Stamp family and property are all ok. Not-Beginners Luck I started the first newsletter of the season with the subject “Beginner’s Luck, Probably Not” as rookie Alex was the third highest scorer in his inaugural week despite only having 7 players play. Just 10 hours this Sunday night proved unlucky for him. Last year Doug Baldwin scored 11 TDs in his last 6 games, while Le’Veon Bell was ranked as a top 5 RB by all experts, so when Alex drafted both of them the picks made sense. However through the first 9 weeks of the season they had combined for just TWO points, so cutting them on TD2 also made sense. But 10 hours later they had scored FIVE touchdowns, compared to the one scored by Baldwin’s replacement Delanie Walker. Welcome to the frustrating world of BUMS ownership Alex! BUMS on Seats It’s Thanksgiving Day next Thursday (24th) and Cheryl will be providing her traditional feast as we watch the first two games of the Thanksgiving Triple Header. Please let us know if you are coming over for catering purposes. Meantime this week Carolina (3-6) host New Orleans (4-5) on Thursday though we are not meeting to watch it. We’ll be at HQ on Sunday from 6pm to watch Baltimore (5-4) @ Dallas (8-1) followed by the Eagles (5-4) at the Seahawks (6-2-1). We’re not meeting to see the Sunday Night game where Green Bay (4-5) travel to Washington (5-3-1) but we will be back at HQ on Tuesday from 8pm to see the first NFL Monday Night game to be played outside North America as Oakland (7-2) play Houston (6-3) in the Estadio Azteca in Mexico City.
