2015 Season - Week 6

Trading Day 1

11 owners (six in person, three online & two by email/phone) traded 34 players on Sunday (two trades less than both Trading Day 1 last year & TD1 in 2013 combined). It was hardly surprising coming straight after our worst scoring fortnight in our 21 year history. And it paid off with a combined score of 479 points this week, an average of 29.94pts per owner, after the last two weeks combined average was just 17.19. Despite being bottom of the Premiership AP decided his team were playing well, just not hitting paydirt. It was an inspired decision as the Tring Tarantulas scored 40 points in week 6 after averaging less than 12 per week across the first five weeks of the season. You have to feel for George who lost his first year franchise running back Jamaal Charles in week 5 and faced the daunting task of cutting him and having to play with a budget of just $7million both this year and next year. In the end George has decided to play with a seven man roster instead, keeping Charles on his books and hoping he comes back strong next season. That’s the first time in the Franchise player era that an owner has lost a first year franchise man that costs $3m so early into their contract. If you realise you wanted to drop another player you will have to wait until Sunday November 15th for Trading Day 2 which happens before week 10. Five trades won’t take effect until this weekend as they involved players signed (two) or cut (three) from either Atlanta or New Orleans as they had already played on Thursday night and so we already knew their week 6 score. A big thanks to Marcus who helped with technology and making the crispy chicken and to Cheryl for the post trading Lasagne. Trading Day - What’s the point of that then? It’s always silly to judge owners trading success the day after the trade but it’s fun to take a little peek into who made the right move. That was Johnnie who saw a 25 point improvement as all of his new players scored. Meantime Daz, Marcus and Chief all improved by two TDs and Andy H & Craig by one. Most Popular/Unpopular teams Injury hit Dallas lost four players from BUMS rosters on Sunday, while Detroit & Philadelphia lost three apiece. There are now four more Patriots on BUMS rosters than last week, which is no surprise but the addition of three more Cleveland Browns shows how much their offence has improved. All 32 NFL teams are represented on BUMS rosters, Tennessee only have one player, Marcus Mariota on a team while Cincinnati, Green Bay and New England are now the most popular NFL teams as each have seven players on BUMS rosters. Cuts by draft round No matter which round you are selected in, you can still be cut. Two franchise players were cut, Mark cut underperforming Head Coach Sean Payton while Johnnie lost Kelvin Benjamin to injury. Five first round players were cut, Sam Bradford (John), Matt Stafford (Mark), Demaryius Thomas (Aaron), Ben Roethlisberger (Johnnie) and Marshawn Lynch (Daz). We also lost five second rounders and four third round picks. BUMS on Seats We are at HQ at 3pm on Sunday to watch Buffalo @ Jacksonville @Wembley on catch-up before Patriots @ Jets at 5pm and Giants @ Cowboys. We will be at Johnnies at 7pm on Monday for Sunday Night’s Philadelphia @ Carolina matchup and again at Johnnies from 7pm on Tuesday to see the battle of the birds as the Ravens travel to the Cardinals on Monday Night football.
