2015 Season - Week 2
Calamity Cowboys
We’ll be hearing a lot more about Triplets later in the season as the BUMS will be selecting their favourite Triplet matchups. The first time I was aware of the phrase Triplets was to describe the multi-Superbowl winning Dallas Trio of QB Troy Aikman, RB Emmitt Smith and Receiver Michael Irvin. Last year Dallas had one of the NFL’s most formidable Triplets in Tony Romo, DeMarco Murray and Dez Bryant but after Bryant’s 10-12 week injury in week 1 Romo has now broken his clavicle and been put on “IR - Designated to Return”, meaning he will miss at least the next 8 weeks. Meantime DeMarco left Dallas to join Chip Kelly’s imploding offence. Through two games Murray has 21 carries for 11 yards, on pace for 88 yards rushing this season! Dallas have just traded for Bills QB Matt Cassel but for now they role with a Triplets line up of Brandon Weedon, Joseph Randle and Terrence Williams, a bit of a step back from the 2104 Cowboys Triplets, I think you’ll agree.
NFL Casualty Ward 1
The pain has come thick and fast in two weeks, no more so than for Dallas but a number of BUMS owners are suffering injuries to key players. Dave G’s QB Drew Brees is suffering a rotator cuff injury while his TE Julius Thomas has yet to suit up for his new team the Jaguars. Rhodesia Rams still await the return of Arian Foster while TE Dwayne Allen missed significant time in week 2. Andre Ellington didn’t play for Arizona or George in week 2 and has already been ruled doubtful for next week. AP saw Eddie Lacy get 9 yards before he left the Packers game on Sunday night. Not only has Marcus lost Dez Bryant but franchise wideout Alshon Jeffery missed week 2 with a dodgy hammy. The Leamington Spartans equalled the second highest score in the Premiership in week 2 but will do well to continue that production as Tony Romo is their QB. Meantime defending champion and top of the table Sofa Wreckers will be without the services of rookie RB Tevin Coleman for “a couple of weeks” after he fractured a rib. With Trading Day 1 on 18th October we have three more weeks of action before we can replace the walking wounded.
BUMS on Seats
The Thursday game on Sky is Washington @ NY Giants though we are not meeting to watch it. Due to Chief working, Sunday’s Sky double header is at Johnnies from 6pm. It’s the Saints @ the Panthers followed by the Buffalo travelling to Johnnie’s beloved Miami. We’re at HQ early on Monday at 4pm to see Denver @ Detroit on Sunday Night Football and then back at Johnnies on Tuesday from 6.30pm to see Monday Night Football as the Packers host the Chiefs. As always all are welcome just shout if you want in, for catering purposes.
