2015 Season - Week 1

Short-Handed BUMS

At least five BUMS will be looking forward to first Trading Day as they are playing with seven players because one of their selections was cut by their team after our draft or has suffered a major injury. John Botten and Johnnie saw their franchise players suffer season ending injuries in the pre-season, if they decide to cut them they will need to pay them (John will pay Suisham for the rest of this year, while Benjamin’s salary would count against Johnnie this year and next year as he is his first year Franchise man). Andy H saw his kicker Caleb Sturgis cut by Miami after he took him in the fifth round, while we were shocked to see AP’s second round kicker Nick Novak cut by San Diego, neither have been picked up by any other team so far. Then on Sunday night Marcus’ second round pick Dez Bryant broke a bone in his foot playing against the Giants. The operation has been a success say Dallas who claim he will be back around week 8 but some medical experts are saying that’s the earliest and it could easily be a 12 week recovery process. Make a diary note for TD1 on October 18th before week 6 and also for November 15th which will be your other chance to tweak your team as Trading Day 2 will happen before the week 11 matchups. After that your only changes will be to any player placed on season ending IR by his NFL team. Remember if that is a franchise player you will need to keep paying him his 2015 salary so it may be wise to keep a little money spare after TD2. Our Favourite NFL Franchise Every team is represented on BUMS rosters to start the season; with Cleveland, Tampa Bay and Tennessee having just one player apiece. There are some surprises amongst our most popular teams but all have the potential of scoring big. Detroit, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh had the most drafted (7 players apiece) while six teams had 6 players drafted:- Cincinnati, Dallas, Green Bay, Indianapolis, Miami and Minnesota. Former popular teams suffered with New England only having 4 players picked and Denver only 3. BUMS on Seats After getting together to see six games in week one, we settle into last year’s format for week two. The only difference is that all games are on Sky so sadly we will not be able to enjoy Andy H’s finer Monday evening food as the Concession King won’t touch Sky. So for this week the Thursday game (Denver @ Kansas City) will be viewed at Johnnie’s from 6pm. On Sunday it’s the usual Sky double header at HQ from 6pm for New England @ Buffalo followed by Dallas @ Philadelphia. We will be at either Chief’s or Johnnie’s for the two late games, details to be finalised - on Monday to see Sunday Night’s Seahawks @ Packers match up and the MNF game as Indianapolis host the New York Jets. Let us know if you are coming to any of the games, for catering and politeness purposes!
