2015 Season - Week 19

And then there were four

There was a repeat of the big upset as the 16th seeded Weymouth Bay Bargineers shocked third seed Langley Raptors 30-23 behind 15 kicking points from Brandon McManus. They hadn’t faced each other since Chief’s first ever post season game back in 1996 but with McManus outscoring his kicker (Chandler Catanzaro) by 7, revenge was not to be and so John’s BUMS career continues for another week. There was another upset in the next game as Pittsburgh kicker Chris Boswell easily surpassed the three points 15 seed AP required to knock off Marcus (#6). In the end Boswell scored 9 points and AP comfortably won 37-29 as Marcus had no one in the late game. With Aaron out in the wildcard round to his mum it was left to Cheryl to uphold the Cooper’s honour as she faced Daz and she was soon out to an 18-0 lead by half time in the first game courtesy of Rob Gronkowski & Cairo Santos from Brazil. However going into the final game she’d only added five more points (from Santos and Cam Newton) and was done while Daz had 16 from Carson Palmer & Graham Gano and so needed a TD and a 2-point conversion from either Demaryuis Thomas or Ronnie Hillman to win. Hillman was stopped on the one yard line prior to CJ Anderson’s winning TD and Thomas caught the 2-point conversion but that was all and so Cheryl hung on for a 23-18 victory. In the fourth game Mark put on the best performance of the weekend amassing 40 points and leaving Craig trailing in his wake. Mark got contributions from four of his six players but all had multiple scores, Carson Palmer 9, Graham Gano 7and two TDs apiece from Rob Gronkowski and Michael Floyd. John will aim for his third consecutive upset as he plays Cheryl in the Championship round, as will AP who faces Mark. John is seeking his fifth visit to the BUMSBowl, while Cheryl her fourth. AP has made the championship round three times before but never progressed while Mark is playing for a record setting sixth BUMSBowl appearance in 20 years. Though 40 points gave Mark an impressive victory you could have put together a Divisional team that would have scored 75 points for just $6.5m, so why didn’t you play Tom Brady (12pts for $1m) at QB, Kicker Brandon McManus (15 for $1m), RB Jonathan Stewart (12 for $1m), TE Rob Gronkowski (12 for $2m) and WRs Michael Floyd (12 for $1m) and Jermain Kearse (12 for $0.5m) But you didn’t so the Championship round is Cheryl (8) versus John (16) while Mark (10) hosts AP (15). Teams to me by 5pm Saturday please people. Doing a similar review of the Wildcard round the highest scorers were Chief and Daz with 33 points but we could have created a team for just $3.5m which would have scored 45 points. That wildcard team would have featured Kirk Cousins (9 points for $0.5m) at QB either Cairo Santos from Brazil or Chris Boswell kicking (12pts for $1m), RB Spencer Ware (6 for $0.5m), TE Jordan Reed (6 for $0.5m) and WRs Chris Conley and Davante Adams (both 6 for $0.5m).
