2015 Season - Week 16
2015 Triplets Champions
Many thanks to the 11 BUMS experts who voted for their favourite triplets as the American NorthEast number 1 seed Pittsburgh faced the National SouthWest six seed Arizona. There was no upset but it was perhaps closer than the NFL seeding suggested with the Steelers winning 7-4. Congratulations to Ben Roethlisberger, LeVeon Bell & Antonio Brown, the BUMS 2015 Triplets Champions. The full tournament bracket with results is attached.
When Weymouth Shocked The World
Twenty years ago Alan Hanson famously said “you can’t win anything with kids” after Beckham, Giggs, Scholes etc lost their opener, before United went on to do the double that season! Many said of John Botten’s self-imposed budget team that “you can’t win anything with cheap and available” but in 2006 the Weymouth Bay Bargaineers shocked the fantasy world as a team made up exclusively of half a million dollar players won the Papas Fritas Trophy. As John prepares for his final regular season game after 20 years we celebrate his greatest achievement. The 2006 Bargaineers were Head Coach Brian Billick (Baltimore) 78 points, kicker John Kasay (Carolina) 100pts, QB Rex Grossman (Chicago) 69pts, receivers Laveranues Coles (NY Jets) 36pts, Kevin Curtis (St Louis) 24 and Nate Burleson (Seattle) 18. However the two superstars were the running backs who John had smartly franchised, Larry Johnson (Kansas City) scored 114 points and Marion Barber (Dallas) 96 points. 535 points for just $4million dollars, incredible.
BUMS on Seats
We’ll be at HQ on Sunday from 6pm to see the two live Sky games – NY Jets (10-5) @ Buffalo Bills (7-8) where a Jets win will secure them a play-off place followed by Oakland (7-8) @ Kansas City (10-5), (a Chief win combined with a Bronco loss and Kansas win the AFC West). We will then be back at HQ on Monday evening to see the final game of the regular season, the afore mentioned Sunday Night’s NFC North deciding Minnesota (10-5) @ Green Bay (10-5). That means no spoilers on Monday please. As always all are welcome, please just let us know in advance for catering purposes. The final regular season newsletter (including the final table and player prices for the Wildcard matches on January 9th & 10th) will be sent out on Tuesday (Jan 5th) so keep an eye out for it. Meantime may I take this opportunity to wish you all a very Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year.
