2015 Season - Week 13 (Cont)

Botten’s Own Battle

With John’s final season coming to a close he has set himself the challenge of playing all year without a kicker (who usually total 90-120 points alone) and still not finish with the lowest score ever. His franchise kicker Shaun Suisham was put on IR in the pre-season and it’s John’s policy to only spend $4m on his Bargaineers. After 5 weeks (prior to TD1) he had scored just 56 points and was pace for 186. His target is 241 set in the defence dominated time of 1998 by AP so after week 5 John needed to score 15.5 points per week to reach his goal. This week Weymouth scored a season high 27 raising his total to 188, a weekly average of 14.5 and he now needs 54 points in the final 4 weeks, an average of 13.5 points per week. All this without a kicker. As well as the previously reported BUMSBowl success John has also finished third in the Premiership twice. In 1997 he scored 407 points finishing three behind H and 61 behind Gully. Then in 1999 he put up 425 points, 38 behind Johnnie and 56 points behind Mark. Later in the season we will celebrate some more of John’s great achievements with the Weymouth Bay Bargaineers across his 20 year BUMS career. NFL Post Season Congratulations to the Carolina Panthers who remain unbeaten (12-0) after a thrilling game in New Orleans, winning 41-38 and becoming the first team to book a spot in the play-offs as they win the NFC South. Arizona (10-2) is three games ahead of wildcard team Seattle in the West. Green Bay and Minnesota share the lead of the North on 8-4 with the Packers holding the tie breaker while who wants to win the woeful East is anyone’s guess. NY Giants, Philadelphia and Washington are all tied for the lead at 5-7. In the AFC New England lost their second consecutive game and fell to 10-2 the same record as Cincinnati and Denver. Meantime in the AFC South (a division only slightly better than the NFC East) Indianapolis and Houston share the lead at 6-6. NY Jets, Pittsburgh and hard charging Kansas City (winners of six straight) lead the wildcard chase with 7-5 records. BUMS on Seats The Thursday game on Sky is a key battle for playoff positioning in the NFC as Minnesota (8-4) travel to Arizona (10-2). Will Adrian Peterson get more than the 8 carries he was given last Sunday? He was just 8 for 18 yards against Seattle. We will meet at HQ on Friday from 7pm for Fish N Football Friday. We will be back at HQ on Sunday at 6pm to see a great AFC North matchup as Cincinnati Bengals (10-2) host Pittsburgh Steelers (7-5) followed by Dallas (4-8) and only one game out of the lead in the NFC East travelling to Green Bay (8-4). We will be at Johnnies on Monday from 7pm to see New England (10-2) at Houston (6-6) and back at Johnnies on Tuesday from 7pm to see the Giants (5-7) at his beloved Dolphins (5-7). As always all are welcome, just shout if you’re coming, for catering purposes.
