2014 Season - Week 6
20th Anniversary - Team DavidS
We’ve now received anniversary teams from three quarters of the BUMS owners. This week I’ve decided to reveal the eighth team. Half the teams have now been revealed and while owners have come up with great reasons why they have selected certain players trust Stampy to embrace the spirit of the anniversary teams by giving his personal rationale behind every player he has selected. So verbatim “...and here is the vote from Karori 1) Dan Marino - my all time NFL hero - great vision, lighting fast release, pin point accuracy and the nicest gentleman you could ever hope to meet off the field 2) A VINATIERI - if you wanna win a game in over time 4th down and 2 from the 30 yrd line .......this is one guy you'd choose above all others to take that kick 3) B COWHER - his teams were greater than the sum of their parts 4) T DAVIS - more than any player ever in the history of the game this guy could win you the game single-handed 5) E SMITH - 100% pure guts - put leather to leather and paint to paint - and he was in my only ever trophy winning team 6) R MOSS - all you had to do is throw the ball in the right general direction and this guy would come down with it 7) T OWENS - the numbers don't lie 8) S SHARPE - want to get a tight End in my team and there wasn't one better than this fella”. Other skill players he left out include QBs Drew Brees & Kurt Warner, RBs Eddie George, LaDainian Tomlinson & Ricky Watters and receivers Chris Carter, Carl Pickens, Isaac Bruce, Joe Horn, Michael Irvin, Reggie Wayne and Wes Welker.
Missing Players
Wayne has been struggling with big injuries to both his franchise men. He cut RG3 at Trading Day replacing him with Blake Bortles but last year's Franchise signing, Charger RB Ryan Mathews was injured in week 2. Since then his replacements have scored 3 Tds and reports say Mathews will be out at least 2 more weeks. Johnnie’s kicker Alex Henery was cut by Philadelphia pre-season but was signed by Detroit the week before TD1 so Johnnie kept him on. After three misses last week he was cut by the Lions, so Johnnie will score just 2 points off his kicker in nine weeks as he waits for TD2 on Sunday 9th November before week 10. AP’s misfortune may be George’s fortune as the Tring Franchise RB Stevan Ridley may be placed on IR and rumours from New England have him being replaced by BenJarvus Green-Ellis, George’s RB who is still on his roster despite being cut by Cincinnati in the pre-season. Bad news for George as the Bengals have given up on the rehab for his receiver Marvin Jones and placed him on IR while Miami has done the same to Dave G’s RB Knowshon Moreno. 3 of the best receivers AJ Green, Calvin Johnson and Jimmy Graham are also missing games presently.
