2014 Season - Week 3

Kicker Rob Bironas Killed In Car Crash

I am saddened to report Rob Bironas died on Saturday night aged 36 in a single car crash, drugs or alcohol were not involved. Rob holds the NFL single-game record for field goals after booting eight in a 2007 win. He also holds the Titans’ franchise record of 11 game-winning kicks during his career, including a 60-yard game winner against the Colts in 2006, the longest field goal in Titans or Houston Oilers history. He was released by the Titans after nine seasons with the club in March but recently tried out for several teams. He was George’s Franchise kicker in 2008/9 after he traded for him in 2007. He also played for Chief, Marcus and Mark and scored 479 points in his six seasons in the BUMS. He leaves a wife Rachel (daughter of Terry Bradshaw) whom he married in June. 20th Anniversary – Team Aaron & Team Craig Thanks to those who have replied with their 20th Anniversary teams, to celebrate the 20th year of the BUMS. Everyone should now have received an email detailing all of the players they have ever had in the BUMS. After announcing Johnnie’s team last week I intend to announce two more each week. Team Aaron includes QB - Daunte Culpepper, RBs - Marshawn Lynch & Knowshon Moreno, Receivers - Rod Smith, AJ Green & Anquan Boldin, kicker Josh Scobee and Coach Mike Shanahan. Other star skill position players he could have chosen included Cam Newton, Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Emmitt Smith, Fred Taylor, Jamal Lewis, Marshall Faulk, Warwick Dunn, Andre Johnson, Dallas Clark, Steve Smith, Torry Holt and Wes Welker. Craig has only been in the BUMS for five years so had a much smaller pool to select from but still came up with a great team. He was particulary proud of his wideouts “what a great receiving corps”. He’s not wrong, his team includes QB - Peyton Manning, RBs - LeSean McCoy & Marion Barber, Receivers – Reggie Wayne, Calvin Johnson & Larry Fitzgerald, kicker Adam Vinatieri and Coach John Fox. He could have also had Drew Brees, Steven Jackson, Miles Austin or Victor Cruz. Two Weeks to Trading Day 1 There are a number of owners looking forward to Sunday October 5th at 3.30pm when they can pick up replacements for players who have been cut by teams, disciplined by the league, injured or just not performing on the field. Through three weeks 35 players (that’s over a third of all BUMS) have yet to trouble the scoreboard. Please let me know how you intend to trade your unwanted players, by email, phone, google docs or attending HQ. If I don’t hear from you I will assume you are totally happy with your team. BUMS on Seats The Thursday game on Sky is Giants @ Redskins. We will be at Wembley on Sunday to see the mighty Oakland Raiders beat the Dolphins and will be at H’s on Monday at 6pm to see New Orleans travel to Dallas on Sunday Night Football and then at Johnnies on Tuesday from 6pm to see Monday Night Football as Kansas City host New England.
