Draftermath 2014

A Huge Thanks

Only 5 BUMS were unable to draft their teams either online via the interactive Draft board on google docs or present live and in person at HQ. Many thanks to those present for assisting the drafts for others, Johnnie for David S, Chief for John, Andy H for Dave G, Marcus for Daz and Mark for Ron. Hope you got who you wanted. As always a huge thanks to Cheryl for her fine food. The Experts Choice This year the draft (attached) has been analysed by 10 NFL Fantasy Experts including CBS, ESPN, Fox and NFL.com who have predicted how many points each player will score this year. Chief has the best backfield in the BUMS with Adrian Peterson (78) & LeSean McCoy (77) putting up 155 points. Aaron is second on 135 from Marshawn Lynch (69) & Matt Forte (66) while AP is third with 124 points from Eddie Lacy (74) & Stevan Ridley (50). Andy H has the best receiving fleet with 162 points from Brandon Marshall (64), Julius Thomas (63) and Marques Colston (35) outscoring Wayne’s 158 points from Julio Jones (61), Rob Gronkowski (54) and Justin Hunter (32) while there was a tie for third on 151 points by Aaron (AJ Green-63, Keenan Allen-49 and Emmanuel Sanders-39) and Johnnie (Demaryius Thomas-75, Jeremy Maclin-40 and Kelvin Benjamin-36). With the number one backfield and his receivers scoring one point less than Aaron & Johnnie the experts have Chief winning his fourth crown saying his squad will put up 592 points with Johnnie second and Aaron third. In the Conference they say Andy H’s air attack will win with 541 points. Along with AP and George they will replace Marcus, Mark and Daz in the Big League, say the experts. This Year Last Year Looking at how this year’s teams shape up based on the 2013 scores, Dave G will take the Premiership for the first time with 671 points, just one point shy of the season record Marcus set last year and 51 more than Aaron in second with Chief third on 558. Last year’s scores have Mark, Johnnie and Wayne being relegated. George will win the Conference with 578 points, 134 points ahead of AP with Andy H also going up after scoring just one point less than Tring. The Draftermath table shows what should happen… but will it? Last year the experts had Marcus finishing second in the conference and the previous years scores intimated he would finish third, instead he won it by 134 points, so what is the point of Draftermath? Well it’s a bit of pre-season fun isn’t it. The Unwanted Cam Newton to Dez Bryant, would cost you $6m dollars but last year scored 186 points combined. They lead the 2014 Unwanted, with Fred Jackson and Donald Brown at Running Backs and Josh Gordon and Marlon Brown joining Bryant at Receiver. You can choose any of three coaches who cost $0.5m and scored 48 points (Jason Garrett, Joe Philbin or Rex Ryan). Matt Prater costs $2m and scored 150 points and in total this team would have scored 590 points good enough to win the Premiership and finish second to Marcus in the Conference. However it would cost you $11m so you’d need to have franchised someone previously. The best undrafted team for $10m would see Prater replaced by Dan Carpenter and would have scored 571 points last year, still good enough to win the Premiership & to be runners-up in the Conference. The rejected teams are attached. BUMS on Seats The season starts on Thursday when the Superbowl champs Seattle host Green Bay (remember “Fail Mary”) and will be live on Sky in the early hours of Friday morning. We will be at BUMS HQ early at 4pm on Friday evening to watch it. Just shout if you want to come over and enjoy the season.
