2013 Season - Week 4
BUMS Players Hall of Fame
Chief is delighted to say that for the first time since the inaugural Hall of Fame ballot, votes were sent in from everyone, so a big thanks, your contributions help keep this going. Having not had a vote in 2012 it meant there was a great crop of nominations and every player up for the Hall scored at least ten points but when the 16 votes were totalled it was Adrian Peterson who had garnered the most points, 89 (with five first places). That’s the highest score since Priest Holmes scored 92 in 2005 and the third highest ever (in the first ballot in 2002 Marshall Faulk polled 102). Joining Peterson in the Marbled Halls is Aaron Rodgers (71, 4 first places), Calvin Johnson (48, 2 firsts) and Wes Welker (47 and 2). A floor plan to the Hall of Fame is attached showing all the members.
Aotearoa Hit Rock Bottom
After Cleveland started to re-build and with his QB on the bench, his kicker injured one Running Back on a bye and the other inactive for the fourth consecutive week it was up to his receivers and Head Coach (Mike Tomlin) to score for Stampy. After getting one Field Goal and one TD pass from his QB in week one (to total six points), a TD reception from Santana Moss in week two and one from Josh Gordan in week three he had only scored six points per week but this week his receivers went scoreless and Tomlin’s Steelers lost at Wembley leaving his Maori Bro’s on zero and so the 1998 Champion becomes the 11th owner to enter the Hall Of Shame. With an average of 4.5 points through the first month David is going to have to go some to avoid the lowest yearly total in BUMS history. His target is AP’s 1998 total of 241 but he is currently on pace for just 76.5 points. For Aotearoa, Trading Day 1 on October 20th cannot come quick enough.
BUMS Team of September
That’s the first month in the book and the September’s team scored 269 points for a total of $10.5 million –nice work if you can get it. Peyton Manning $3m (Phoenix) has set an NFL record to start a season with 16 TD passes though four weeks for 48 points. You can have either Stephen Gostkowski (Underachieving) or Matt Prater (California) kicking (41 points, $2m), Adrian Peterson (Langley) (36pts, $1m) and either Jamaal Charles (Phoenix) or Marshawn Lynch (Willoughby) running the ball (24, $2m). Wes Welker (Underachieving – 36, $1m), Jimmy Graham (Phoenix – 36, $0.5m) and Victor Cruz (Perivale – 24, $0.5m) all catching the ball. Other receivers scoring 4 TDs were Dez Bryant, Calvin Johnson and Demaryius Thomas but they all cost more than $0.5m. Coaching the team with four wins is Andy Reid (Sofa) who cost $0.5m less than the other unbeaten coaches (Bill Belichick, Pete Carroll, John Fox and Sean Payton).
