2013 Season - Week 11

Trading Day 2

Thirteen BUMS were either present, emailed or used the BUMS googledoc to cut 25 players in total. Mark cut 5 players and AP cut 4 as they try to avoid relegation while at the other end of the table Chief made 3 changes in his pursuit of the Papas and Marcus cut 2 as he aims for Conference glory. Hope you got rid of who you didn’t want and got who you wanted. 4 trades don’t take effect until next week as they featured Colts or Titans who had played on the Thursday before TD2 – Mark cutting Colts Trent Richardson & Reggie Wayne while Marcus signed Donald Brown and AP signed Titan TE Delanie Walker. Remember from now on you only have the chance to change a player if he is placed on IR by his NFL team. If he’s a franchise player you will still have to pay him which means Andy H cannot replace Doug Martin who is on IR as he has no budget left having spent $10m on his current roster – will it cost him his place in the Premiership? Keep an eye on your roster as it is your responsibility to advise Chief if one of your players is put on IR. Remember each week starts with a Thursday Night game so you need to get your new man to Chief by 11pm on Thursday for him to count in that weekend’s action. Trading Day 2 – So what? The always fascinating quick examination of how successful peoples trades are shows Chief was the most successful with a plus 9 differential. This was helped by his old head coach (Jason Garrett) being on a bye while his new coach (Ron Rivera) saw the Panthers hold on against New England on MNF and his new QB (Nick Foles) running in a TD while his old QB (Philip Rivers) only threw one. AP, Cheryl, David S and Marcus also all ended the week with a positive trading score. Aaron suffered the most as his old kicker (Jay Feely) outscored his new one (Nick Folk) by 7 points. Sadly for Aaron he fell 3 points short of his fourth ever Hall of Fame visit. Don’t feel too bad for him though, as he has now opened up an 18 point lead in the hunt for his first ever Papas Fritas Trophy. Johnnie and Wayne both also saw their old player catch a TD while their new man was shut out. BUMS on Seats Atlanta (2-8) host New Orleans (8-2) on Thursday though we are not meeting to watch it. We’ll be at HQ on Sunday from 6pm to watch The Jets (5-5) @ The Ravens (4-6) followed by NY Giants (4-6) hosting Dallas (5-5). We’re at H’s from 5:30pm on Monday to view the Sunday Night QB battle as Peyton takes on Tom again as Denver (9-1) travels to New England (7-3). Then on Tuesday at 5:30pm we’re at Johnnie’s (if he’s back in the country) for San Fran (6-4) @ Washington (3-7) on MNF. Call if you are planning to come so hosts can cater for you. And remember it’s Thanksgiving Day next Thursday so we will be at HQ to eat Cheryl’s Holiday Feast and see two games from week 13 starting at 5:30pm on the evening of November 28th, so book your seat at the table now.
