2013 Season - Week 10

Trading Day 2

So we are now just days away from Trading Day 2 which is this Sunday at HQ starting at 4pm. If you want to trade but can’t get to HQ you can do so by email, online via the BUMS google doc or by phone, just let me know how you are planning to cut your deadwood. If I don’t hear from you I’ll assume you are happy with your team. Attached are the initial player salaries plus the sheet of new players who are also now available. As always we cut in worst to first order (all cuts by an owner in one go) then draft one player at a time in worst to first owner order until all rosters are full. The full order is David S, AP, George, Mark, Wayne, Dave G, Andy H, John, Cheryl, Daz, Ron, Johnnie, Chief, Aaron, Craig and Marcus. As well as the injured players noted below there are still four receivers who were drafted but have yet to open their 2013 BUMS account – Hakeem Nicks (Giants & California), Markus Wheaton (Steelers & Brockley), Mohamed Sanu (Bengals & Weymouth) and Roddy White (Falcons & Westmorland). Beware who you trade for though, the grass isn’t always greener as all of these six players were signed on Trading Day 1 four weeks ago but haven’t scored:- Austin Pettis (Rams) & Jason Snelling (Falcons) both Rhodesia players, fellow Browns Willis McGahee & Chris Ogbannaya (Aotearoa), Brandon Jacobs (Giants & Westmorland) and Joseph Fauria (Lions & Weymouth). Also remember if you cut a franchise player you have to pay him his salary until the end of the contract. With Tampa Bay putting Andy H’s first year Franchise RB Doug Martin on Injured Reserve if H cuts him, he will still pay Martin his $1m salary and so will playing with a budget of just $9m for the rest of this season and next year as well. Note, if you cut or sign players from this Thursday night’s game (Indianapolis (6-3) @ Tennessee (4-5) then your trade will not be actioned until week 12. From next week onwards if a player is put on IR you will be able to immediately replace him. Other Notable Injuries Chief’s $3m RB Arian Foster (Houston) is reportedly heading for IR and so will be done for the season. Daz faces about a month without Franchise QB Aaron Rodgers who broke his collarbone. It’s not only a blow to Daz’s attempt to retain the Papas Fritas Trophy it also hurts Rodger’s hopes of winning his division for a fifth consecutive year. In 2009 he won his first Premiership as Johnnie’s Franchise man and won it the following year as Johnnie repeated. In 2011 he steered Daz’s team to the Conference title and then after Daz franchised him they won the Papas Fritas together last year. At the time of Rodgers injury Daz was top of the Premiership. Also as previously reported receivers have been going on season ending IR all over the league, including Seattle‘s Sidney Rice (Daz), Mark ‘s Colt Reggie Wayne and David G’s Mike Williams (Tampa). BUMS on Seats After Trading Day from 6pm we will see Sky’s doubleheader of Browns (4-5) @ Bengals (6-4) followed by San Francisco (6-3) @ New Orleans (7-2). We will be at H’s from 5:30pm on Monday to watch the Sunday Night AFC West battle as Kansas City (9-0) travel to Denver (8-1). Then out to Mark’s at 6pm for our regular Tuesday evening viewing of Monday Night Football as New England (7-2) takes on Carolina (6-3). Call if you are planning to come so hosts can cater for you.
