2012 Season - Week 7

Most Popular/Unpopular teams

As we continue to analyse Trading Day 1, Cleveland who had no players on BUMS rosters after the draft now have two, Aaron picked up kicker Phil Dawson and his brother took RB Trent Richardson. Meantime Oakland is now the only un-loved team as Mark cut Raider RB Darren McFadden. Five Tennessee Titans (Mike Munchak, Rob Bironas, Jake Locker, Chris Johnson and Nate Washington) were cut (though Wayne re-signed Johnson) while Carolina and Green Bay lost two players each (Ron Rivera & Greg Olsen and Mason Crosby & Greg Jennings respectively). Minnesota saw the biggest uplift with Leslie Frazier, Christian Ponder and Blair Walsh being signed. As well as Cleveland, five other teams saw a duo signed (Arizona, Chicago, Indianapolis, New England, and NY Giants). So after Trading Day 1 the most popular NFL team is New England who place 9 Patriots on BUMS rosters while Atlanta and New Orleans place 7 players a piece. Cuts by draft round No matter which round you are selected in, you can still be cut. For the second year running Aaron cut an expensive Franchise man (Peyton Manning and his $3m salary last year, Knowshon Moreno and $2m this year). Two other franchise running backs were also cut, Wayne got rid of Cardinal Beenie Wells and Mark jettisoned Tampa’s LeGarrette Blount. Three first rounders were cut, McFadden by Mark, Jennings by Marcus and Ram RB Steven Jackson by Craig. Two second rounders were cut, though as mentioned Wayne re-signed Chris Johnson while no NFL teams signed John’s Tim Hightower after Washington released him in the pre-season. A whopping six third rounders were released:- Head Coaches Munchack (by Craig) and Jim Schwartz by Marcus, Cheryl’s injured kicker Nate Kaeding, Marcus’ RB Peyton Hillis and two receivers Nate Washington by John and Dave’s concussed Jaguar, Laurent Robinson. BUMS on Seats It’s the Patriots and Rams at Wembley this Sunday so Johnnie and Chief are treating their ladies to a visit to the West Coast of America to get away from it (though we will be seeing Stanford University play Washington State this weekend and then the Vikings at Seattle at the start of November). So you will have to organize your own gatherings for the next two weeks, the next official BUMS game will be on November 6th at H’s from 6:30pm to watch the week 9 Monday Night game as Philadelphia travel to New Orleans. See you then.
