2012 Season - Week 5

Trading Day 1

We are now just days away from Trading Day 1 (Sunday October 14th - 4pm @ HQ) and more and more owners can’t wait to replace injured players. This weekend Robert Griffin III took a huge hit and left the game with concussion so Wayne may want a new QB as may John, Matt Cassel also suffered a concussion on Sunday. Last weekend Craig’s QB Jake Locker was injured and reportedly could be out for 4-6 weeks. Other players who have missed multiple weeks with injuries include Beenie Wells, Greg Jennings, Peyton Hillis, Aaron Hernandez, Hakeem Nicks, Rashard Mendenhall, Nate Kaeding and Ryan Matthews. Some have got healthier, you are advised to check the NFL injury list espn.go.com/nfl/injuries. Tim Hightower has yet to be signed by any team so John Botten will likely want to replace him and Aaron will definitely need a new receiver as the Jets have placed Santonio Holmes on IR. Meantime Aaron’s Franchise RB Knowshon Moreno has been inactive for 3 weeks so he may want to cut him, but remember if you cut a Franchise player you have to pay him for the rest of his contract so Aaron would only have an $8m budget for the rest of the season as he tries to bounce straight back into the Premiership. Add to this list the 10 Running Backs and Receivers who have yet to score and it may be a busy Trading Day before the week 6 games. We start at 4pm, if you want to trade but can’t make it you can do so by email or phone. Let me know how you intend to trade, if I don’t hear from you I’ll assume you are happy with your team. Note, if you cut or sign players from this Thursday night’s game (Pittsburgh @ Tennessee) then your trade will not be actioned until week 7. As is becoming a BUMS tradition, we will not be getting together to watch this game. As always we cut in worst to first order (all cuts by an owner in one go) then draft one player at a time in worst to first owner order until all rosters are full. The full order is Craig, DaveG/Wayne (coin toss), John, Cheryl. Marcus, Mark, Aaron, AndyH/DavidS (coin toss), Chief, Ron, George, Daz, Johnnie and AP. Attached is a list of the new players who are available for signing, having scored during the first month of the season, together with the player price list from the start of the season. Happy planning. Drew Brees Record Holder (again) A big congratulations to the New Orleans QB who passed one of the longest standing records in the NFL. Last year he set the single season touchdown record and he was breaking records again on Sunday night as his touchdown pass to Devery Henderson in the first quarter meant he has now thrown a TD pass in 48 consecutive games, (that’s 3 full regular seasons) surpassing the 52 year old record of one of the greatest NFL QBs of all time, Johnny Unitas. BUMS on Seats So it’s Trading Day at 4pm at HQ followed by Sky's doubleheader from 6pm on Sunday as Detroit travel to Philadelphia followed by San Francisco entertaining the NY Giants. We are at Johnnie’s on Monday from 6:30pm for Sunday Night’s Green Bay @ Houston clash and at H's on Tuesday (6:30pm) to see the Broncos @ Chargers. All welcome, just let us know if you are coming. .
