2012 Season - Week 4
Return of the Real Refs
So as soon as Chief threatens to boycott a game, the NFL give in to the Refs (while getting a few more concessions from them) and they were back to work in days. Meantime Green Bay conceded a touchdown when the receiver pushes off the defender, cause and recover a fumble but it is not ruled a fumble and a Green Bay cornerback is called for a very dubious pass interference infraction which puts the opponents in position to win the game – no I’m not talking about Green Bay v Seattle with the replacement refs, I’m talking about Green Bay v New Orleans this week with the real refs back, thank god Garrett Hartley’s field goal was called back for holding and he missed the re-try or Packerland would have been robbed two weeks running – bet Roger Godell breathed a big sigh of relief.
Teams of September
Johnnie’s Sofa Wreckers set the pace in the BUMS with 164 points through 4 weeks, a very impressive 41 point average which extrapolates across the whole season to 697 points which would beat H’s 2007 season record of 670 points. However there is a BUMS team that would score 217 for $10m:-Atlanta & Phoenix head coach Mike Smith 24 points ($1m), Detroit & Sofa kicker Jason Hanson (44 and $1m), Atlanta & Brockley QB Matt Ryan (39 and $2m), running backs Arian Foster of Houston & Sofa (30 and $3m) and Willis McGahee (Denver & Rhodesia – 20 and $0.5m) and receivers Vernon Davis (San Fran & Langley – 24 and $1m) and James Jones (Green Bay & Underachieving) and Kyle Rudolph (Minnesota & Karori) both $0.5m players who have scored three TDs. However there is a Non-BUMS team out there that for just $6.5m scored 221 points in September. You could have drafted HC Ken Whisenhunt (Arizona) 24pts $0.5m, Kicker Greg Zuerlein (St Louis-41-$0.5m), QB Ryan Fitzpatrick (Buffalo-36-$1m), RBs CJ Spiller (Buffalo-24-$1m) and Trent Richardson (Cleveland-24-$2m) and Receivers Andre Roberts (Arizona-24-$0.5m), Heath Miller (Pittsburgh-24-$0.5m) and Scott Chandler (Buffalo-24-$0.5m).
The Hurt Locker
Sub-title copyright of Craig, after he emailed worried about the state of the Leamington franchise and the injury which knocked Tennessee QB Jake Locker out of the game on Sunday. Latest reports say Jake could need season ending surgery and the Jets report Santonio Holmes (Willoughby Wolves) could also be done for the season. With a number of other injuries thank goodness we are just 11 days from Trading Day 1 on Oct 14th.
