2011 Season - Week 1

Hall of Fame Again for Wayne

Wayne made a quick start to the season as he visits the Scoring Hall of Fame for a BUMS record the eleventh time. All of his players scored as he totalled 55 points. This is the fourth time someone has hung half a ton on the week 1 scoreboard but starting fast doesn’t mean finishing top. In 1995 Chief scored 53 points but finished the season second. In 1999 Dave G also opened with 53 points but only finished ninth of 14 and Daz put up 50 in 2002 but finished fifth in the Premiership. So a fast start is not an indication of Papas Fritas glory. QB Killa Amazingly Aaron has done it again, #QBKilla and you follow Warren Sapp but maybe Aaron should sue him. In 2004 Aaron selected Daunte Culpepper with the 4th pick in the draft and in 2005 made him his franchise player. In week 8 Daunte went own with a serious injury from which he never fully recovered and retired a few years later. Az drafted Tom Brady in 2008 when Brady’s season ended after one quarter when he blew out his knee! And now his franchise QB Peyton Manning has had neck surgery and will miss 2 to 3 months, the first games he has missed since joining the league in 1998. Bad news on the injury front for David S a well, as Nate Kaeding damaged his knee on the opening kick-off of the season and is out for the year. It could be good news for Daz as his franchise kicker (Jeff Reed) is currently out of work and he has flown to San Diego this week. Maybe The Killer K’s (Stamps own nickname for his team) should consider signing BUMS free agent Sebastian JaniKowsKi who equalled the NFL record for longest field goal (63 yards) on MNF. Trading Day 1 While Wayne may not care it’s a long wait for Aaron and David S as Trading Day 1 is before the week 8 games on October 30th (diary note). Remember if you want to cut a franchise man you still have to pay him for the rest of his contract. If Manning doesn’t come back Aaron will have to pay Peyton $3m and pay for another QB, ouch, Our Favourite NFL Franchise The Philadelphia Eagles “Dream Team” have the most players on BUMS rosters with 8 while Atlanta have 7 and six teams (Dallas, Green Bay, Houston, New Orleans, San Digeo & Tampa Bay) have 6 each. Only one team was spurned by the owners. There are no Cleveland Brown players on any BUMS rosters. BUMS on Seats After getting together to see six games in week one we settle into the normal format for week two. Sunday is at Johnnie’s for Tampa Bay @ Minnesota which is followed by a top AFC clash, San Diego @ New England. We will be at H’s on Monday at 6.30pm to see Sunday Night’s Philadelphia @ Atlanta match up. Then at HQ on Tuesday from 6.30pm to see Monday Night Football as St Louis travel to the New York Giants. As always all are welcome just shout if you want in, for catering purposes.
