Draftermath 2011
A Huge Thanks
In almost a replay of the 2010 draft we had 8 BUMS present at HQ plus Craig and Wayne online while George was late getting online again, arriving in the middle of round 3. Those who were present enjoyed burgers and hot-dogs courtesy of Cheryl. Many thanks Cher and thanks to Mark & Marcus for sorting out the IT.
The Experts Choice
This year the draft (attached) has been analysed by 6 NFL Fantasy Experts including ESPN and NFL.com who have predicted how many points each player will score this year. Johnnie has the best backfield in the BUMS with Arian Foster (84) & Chris Johnson (79) putting up a massive 155 points. AP is second on 133 from Rashard Mendenhall (71) and Darren McFadden (62) while Mark is third on 120 points from Michael Turner (67) & LeGarrette Blount (53). Ron has the best receiver fleet scoring 155 points from Antonio Gates (58), Dwayne Bowe (57) and Jermichael Finley (40) just outscoring Marcus (151) from Roddy White (61), Larry Fitzgerald (54) and Percy Harvin (36) while Johnnie is third with 149 points from Vincent Jackson (59), Steve Johnson (50) & Marques Colston (40). With the experts saying Johnnie has the best RBs and third best receivers it is no surprise they have him as the best team totalling 558 points (they correctly predicted defending champ Johnnie to win in 2009 as well). Wayne will be second and Chief third. In the Conference they say Cheryl will win with 491 points. Along with Daz and Dave G they will replace Marcus, Aaron & David Stamp in the Big League say the experts.
This Year Last Year
Looking at how this year’s teams shape up based on the 2010 scores Johnnie will three-peat defeating Ron by 38 points. Last year’s scores discredit what the experts say with Wayne and Chief being relegated along with Marcus. Given his draft strategy it is no surprise that Dave G will win the Conference with 571 points finishing 117 points ahead of Daz with Cheryl also going up. The Draftermath table shows what should happen… but will it?
The Unwanted
Bill Belichick will coach the 2011 Unwanted squad which includes 99 point QB David Garrard and Sebastian Janikowski who kicked 142 points last season. The best undrafted team for $10m would have scored an exceptional 583 points last year, good enough to win the Premiership by 71 points & to win in the Conference 89! The rejected team is attached.
Trading Day 1
If you’ve already decided that you have drafted the wrong man and you want to change a player you’ll have to wait til before the week 8 games on October 30th. Remember if you want to cut a franchise man you still have to pay him for the rest of his contract.
BUMS on Seats
The season starts on Thursday 8th when the Saints travel to the Superbowl champ Packers and we will be at Johnnies from 6:30pm on Friday to watch it with the full schedule kicking in on Sunday 11th when we will be at HQ from 6pm to see the action unfold.
