2010 Season - Week 2
Underachieving, Overachieving, Underachieving Bastards
With 3 minutes left in the third quarter of the late Sunday games it looked like the Underachieving Bastards were about to overachieve and put Daz in the Scoring Hall Of Fame for the fifth time. He was on 43 points and still had QB Mark Sanchez and RB Shonne Green playing for the Jets and RB Clinton Portis and TE Chris Cooley playing for the Redskins. He also has Washington’s head coach and the Redskins held a 17 point lead. Just as Houston scored a TD, Sanchez threw his second TD pass and a 2-point conversion to put Daz just 3 points short of the hall. Then it all went wrong, none of his four players reached paydirt in the last 18 minutes, and Houston came all the way back when Matt Schaub hit Andre Johnson for a 34 yard score on 4th & 10. The Texans scored a field goal in OT and the Underachieving Bastards were left high and dry on 47 points. The consolation was that Daz moved from eighth to fourth, 4 points behind Aaron and 9 behind H (who picked up a trash TD for his pass-catch combo when Eli hit Nicks for a score - their fourth of the season - with 1:31 left in a game they were losing 38-7). However even H’s pass-catch combo can’t keep up with Wayne’s rookie sensation. In just 2 games Lions RB Jahvid Best has 278 yards rushing & receiving and a league leading 5 TDs as Wayne leads the Premiership by 2 points.
BUMS Red Cross Hospital
Reggie Bush’s injury on Monday Night has now been confirmed as a broken leg and the New Orleans Saint and David Stamp’s third round draft pick will be out for about 6 weeks. Things have gotten worse for H who is 2 points behind Wayne even though his kicker was cut prior to the start of the season. His second round pick Packer RB Ryan Grant has been placed on IR and so is out for the season. Meantime the first pick in this years draft Cleveland and Weymouth Bay Bargaineer QB Jake Delhomme missed the week 2 game and has still yet to practice this week with an ankle injury. Quite a few BUMS owners will be looking forward to Trading Day 1 which is before the week 6 fixtures on Sunday Oct 17. We will trade at 4pm before the Sky doubleheader and with 44 players still yet to open their accounts this will be a good time to lose the deadwood. It could get very busy.
BUMS on Seats.
After a week off we will be back to BUMS HQ on Sunday for Cheryl and Gareth’s 23rd Wedding Anniversary and from 4pm the planning of the BUMS trip to Texas and Louisiana in November. We will be getting together on Monday evening to see Sunday Night’s AFC East clash as Miami host NY Jets (venue to be confirmed) and well be back at HQ on Tuesday from 6.30pm to see the NFC North clash of the unbeatens - Green Bay @ Chicago on Monday Night Football.
