Draftermath 2007

The Experts Choice

Thanks to all for a most enjoyable/frustrating Sunday evening. A huge thanks to Cheryl for the food & Mark for the online work. This year the draft (attached) has been analysed by 8 NFL Fantasy Experts including CBS, FoxSports, Sports Illustrated and the NFL.com. Awarding 1 point for the highest rated player at each position, 2 for second and so on they report that AP has the best backfield in the BUMS with Gore (4) & Alexander (5) rating at 9. Mark B is 2nd with 16 points from his franchise men Addai (7) & Rudi Johnson (9) & Ron 3rd on 23 (Tomlinson 1 & Lynch 22). Johnny has the best receiver fleet rating at just 23 from Holt (4), Wayne (6) & Colston (13). Gareth is 14 points behind courtesy of Smith (1), Roy Williams (8) & D Jackson (28). Wayne is third with 56 points (Fitzgerald 7, Boldin 14 & Cotchery 35). The experts believe Jonny has the best team (totalling just 107 points) while Daz will win the Conference and Rookie Mark H will finish second in a thrilling Conference race (all 5 owners are separated by just 18 ranking points). 5 websites including NFL.com & ESPN predicted how many points each player will score in 2007. Based on this and behind a 150 point season from Tomlinson, Ron will win the Premiership with 563 pts which would be the third highest in league history. Bad news for Dave G, John & Marcus as the predictions and rankings agree all three will be relegated. The points predictions have George wining the Conference but again it’s close and remember AP currently has Michael Vick as his franchise QB. After his legal woes expect AP to cut him on Trading Day 1. See the Draftermath table which also ranks the teams based on last years scores. This Year Last Year Looking at how this years teams shape up based on the 2006 scores Ron will beat Dave G by 3 points to win the Premiership even though the experts have Dave G relegated! Marcus will go down with 2 of Aaron, Gareth and Johnny. David S will win the Conference with Daz and George going up. The Draftermath table shows what should happen on paper, but they don’t play the games on paper, do they. Unwanted – NFC Champions Head Coach A number of stars were not selected on Sunday & despite leading Chicago to the Superbowl Coach Lovie Smith was 1 of them. The best $10m team of un-chosen players would have scored 482 points last year, good enough to finish 3rd in the Premiership & 2nd in the Conference. Also missing was Lovie’s QB Rex Grossman. The rejected team is attached. BUMS on Seats The Kick Off Classic (New Orleans @ Indianapolis) is on Thursday night. We will be at BUMS HQ on Friday from 7pm to see the game in full and back on Sunday from 6pm at HQ to see NY Jets @ New England followed by a classic match up of defence versus offence - Chicago @ San Diego. Let me know if you can join us for either and good luck for 2007.
