2006 Season - Week 1
Five TV Competition
NFL on Channel 5 are running a weekly prediction competition which looks like fun. It would be great to get the BUMS mentioned a few times by all entering. I’m sure with our collective knowledge we should be able to win a few weeks. Go to www.five.tv/competitions and click on the ProBowl logo. This takes you to the nfluk website, to register. Use your BUMS team name so we an all identify each other. Once you have a password (they email it to you) you can log in and chose “Predictions” from the “Games” dropdown. Then chose who is going to win each of that weeks games at the click of a button. It’s that easy. It starts this weekend so you haven’t missed anything yet. Just get your predictions in by 4pm Sunday.
Most Fancied NFL Franchises
Unsurprisingly the combined wisdom of the BUMS make the Colts the most attractive offensive team as 7 players from Indi were selected to BUMS rosters on Draft day. Superbowl winners Pittsburgh had 5 & losers Seattle had only 3 (though this becomes 4 following a trade on Monday – see Trading Day 1 below). All of the NFL teams had at least one player selected with Phil selecting the only Brown (Joe Jurevicius), AP chose the only 49er (Frank Gore) & Wayne the only Titan (Chris Brown).
Can he kick it, yes he can
The average score for BUMS players in week 1 was 2.8 points (22.5 per BUMS team). Yet there were 3 undrafted kickers who booted this stat out of the ground. Jeff Wilkins scored 18 points for St Louis, Robbie Gould 14 for Chicago and John Carney 13 for New Orleans. Undrafted Titan RB Travis Henry also scored 14 points by rushing for 2 touchdowns and scoring one 2 point conversion. Fancy one of them…
Trading Day 1In the NFL trading has already started with Patriots holdout WR Deion Branch going to Seatte for a 2007 1st round draft pick. Good news for Phil – Deion is his 2nd year franchise man. We’ve to wait a little longer, Trading Day 1 will be before the week 6 fixtures on Sunday Oct 15th. We will trade at 4:30pm before the Sky doubleheader.
BUMS on Seats.
We will be at Johnny’s from 6pm on Sunday evening to see the AFC East feast that is Buffalo @ Miami followed by NY Jets hosting New England. All are welcome.
