Draftermath 2006
The Experts Choice
Thanks to all for a most enjoyable/frustrating Sunday evening. A huge thanks to Cheryl for the lasagne and puddings. This year the draft (attached) has been analysed by 24 NFL Fantasy Experts including CBS, FoxSports, Sports Illustrated and the NFL.com. Awarding 1 point for the highest rated player at each position, 2 for second and so on they report that Phil has the best backfield in the BUMS with James (5) & Williams (10) rating at 15. Johnny is 2nd with 19 points from Jackson (6) & Westbrook (13) & Gareth 3rd on 20 (Jordan 9 & Brown 11). Mark has the best receiver fleet rating at just 36 from R Moss (7), Wayne (12) & Burress (17). Cheryl is 3 points behind courtesy of Boldin (9), Driver (14) & Shockey (16). Wayne is third with 46 points (S Smith 1, Fitzgerald 3 & Stallworth 42) . The experts believe Mark has the best team (totalling just 110 points) while Ron will win the Conference. This worries Ron who stated on Sunday that the “experts” said he had the best team last year yet he finished the season with the lowest score. NFL.com & Fantasy Football Today both predicted how many points each player will score in 2006. Based on this Johnny will win the Premiership & Dave G the Conference. See the Draftermath table which also ranks the teams based on last years scores.
This Year Last Year
Looking at how this years teams shape up based on the 2005 scores Daz will repeat in the Premiership even though the experts rankings have him relegated. Dave G will win the Conference with 526 points but last year’s analysis showed Dave G was due to win the Premiership and in the end he was relegated! So this & Ron’s comment tells us that the attached Draftermath table is total nonsense, but still it’s fun to peruse.
Unwanted – A QB with a 27-4 win-loss record
A number of stars were not selected on Sunday & 1 discussed during the draft was Steelers Superbowl winning QB Ben Roethlisberger. The best $10m team of un-chosen players would have scored 482 points last year, good enough to finish 4th in the Premiership & 2nd in the Conference. The unwanted team are QB Big Ben ($1m-69pts), RB’s Tiki Barber (2m-68) & Samkon Gado (1m-42), Receivers Joey Galloway (2m-60), Chris Henry (0.5-36) & Jason Witten (0.5-36), Kicker Jeff Wilkins (1m-1017) & Coach Brad Childress (1m-54).
BUMS on Seats
So the scene is set for the Kick Off Classic as Miami travel to Pittsburgh on Thursday night. We will be at Johnny’s on Friday from 6:30pm to see the game in full and then on Sunday from 5:30pm at BUMS HQ to see Atlanta @ Carolina followed by Dallas @ Jacksonville. Let me know if you can join us. Channel 5 will show live Monday Night Games so we will record them & get together on Tuesday evenings to watch them. Good luck for 2006.
