2003 Season - Week 9

Pathetic

That’s the only word to describe our collective scoring output so far in week 9. So far with just the two Night games to go we have scored a pitiful 228 points combined. That’s an average of just 14.25 points per owner substantially lower than the 17.06 average set back in week 6 of 2001 which is the lowest average since we expanded to a 16 owner league. That score is the second worst of all time. You have to go back to week 10 of 1998 when the 13 owners combined for 194 points an average of 14.92 points per owner. We need to score 11 more points to pass that average and with 21 players still to play we should easily manage that. Hopefully we will score the 45 points required to pass the lowest ever 16 owner score but it could be close. Leaving it late At least nobody is in the Hall of Shame, though Marcus scored his first points with only 10 minutes left in the final week 9 game he had players in. However when he did score he did it in style with his QB Marc Bulger hitting his WR Torry Holt to score Marcus 9 points. Are 30 points too much to ask for? As things stand nobody has even scored 30 points this week though a whopping great three owners may manage this feat by the end of the week! Paul has extended his lead at the top of the Premiership by 4 points but Cheryl’s lead in the conference was short-lived. Cheryl’s week-9-worst 5 points drop her to third place and with a Monday Night player to go Aaron may knock her out of the promotion places. Draft Day Analysis We are exactly half way through the season, 4 teams have played 9 games, 4 have played 7 and the rest have played 8 so I thought I’d have a look at how well we draft round by round. The attached spreadsheet shows that as expected most points have been scored by 1st Round draft picks but the 2nd round players have scored less than the 3rd and 4th rounders as well as the Franchised players from 2002 and 2003. Interestingly the second year franchisers (2002-3) are outscoring the first years (2003-4) by 110 points. In fact our new Franchise men really are struggling scoring more than only the 2nd, 5th and 6th rounders. Trading Day 2 As mentioned before it will be on Sunday November 16th before the week 11 games followed by food and Sky’s doubleheader of Kansas City @ Cincinnati and the battle of the bays as Green Bay travel to Tampa Bay. Originally scheduled for a 3pm start this has caused a problem for a couple of owners so it has been moved back to a 4pm prompt start. BUMS on Seats We are at HQ on Tuesday from 6:30pm to see the Packers @ the Vikings, and at H’s on Wednesday to see New England @ Denver and whether we can score those 45 points. It’s back to HQ next Sunday from 6pm as Miami travel to Tennessee and Dallas play Buffalo.
