2003 Season - Week 7

Hall of Shame has a two new members

Last week saw the BUMS hit an all-time low with 2 members failing to score a single point and so entering the Hall of Shame. We had already documented Marks induction but on Monday Night Football last week the Rams shut-out the Falcons and so Phil’s kicker, like the rest of his team, went scoreless. Last years Conference Champion now props up the Premiership. Worse news followed the game when it was announced his QB Jake Plummer would be out 3-5 weeks after aggravating a broken bone in his foot when he got off his couch at home. Let that be a lesson to you all - NEVER GET OFF THE COUCH! Where have all the points gone? None of us can be smug about the double embarrassment above as it’s not just the Eagles, Giants and Raiders who can no longer find the endzone. Collectively the BUMS are off to a terrible start. Through 7 weeks we have scored 2470 points. Last year after week 7 we had scored 2967 that’s just under 500 points less this year. We have had no Hall of Fame owners where we had had 4 by this time last year. In 2001 we had the second lowest scoring week ever in week 6 when we averaged 17.06 points per owner (273 for the week). Our lowest weekly total this year has been 330 in week 6 but we haven’t surpassed 400 points once yet. We did that 5 times in the first 7 weeks of last year and twice in the first 7 weeks of 2001. In 2001 we had scored 2556 points by this time. Marcus surpasses 200 Tim Brown fails to take MNF into overtime when he came out of the end zone to catch the final pass of the game and was tackled on the 1 inch line. Andy H summed it up brilliantly as he announced it was a Rookie mistake, but that mistake meant KC won and Marcus picked up 6 more points taking the 2001 Champion into the lead and up to 202 points. Despite leading the chase for the Papas Fritas Marcus is averaging just 28.8 points per week, good for a season total of 490 points, that would have been just the 5th best total of last year. Conference Closeness It’s all up for grabs in the conference. At one point on Sunday all 5 places were separated by just 4 points. Cheryl has dropped from Champion to outside the Promotion Places after she fell from 1st to 4th. John has taken over at the top but he’s only 10 points off the bottom! BUMS on Seats We are testing out Mark’s new couches next Sunday from 6pm for another doubleheader on Sky. In the early game Baltimore travel to Denver while Indianapolis entertain Houston in the second game. Hanna’s making Brownies so let Mark know if you are going.
