2003 Season - Week 6
Hall of Shame has a new members
This year is a low scoring year and for the first time ever Mark has scored the minimum any owner can ever score…and that is nothing. At last Wednesday’s screening of the MNF game it was mentioned that two-time champion Mark could struggle this week and was in danger of entering the Hall of Shame as his kicker Hanson, QB Culpepper and WR Johnson were all on bye’s. After RB’s Garner and Betts and WR Toomer were shutout in the Giants loss, the failure of Driver to score in Overtime for the Packers left Mark with no points and he becomes the 6th member to join the Hall. The others are Ron, Gareth, Marcus, Paul and John who has been in there 4 times and was the original member way back in 1996. If St Louis prevent Jay Feely from scoring on MNF then Phil will become the 7th member.
Is there no love for Vinny?
As the Jets won their first game of the season against Buffalo this week Vinny Testaverde completed 11 passes for 130 yards. Nothing special about that you may say, except it raised his career total to 40,649 and he moved to 7th on the all-time passing list overtaking Joe Montana. He is still behind Marino, Elway, Moon, Tarkenton, Favre and Fouts. And yet I’m still not hearing any of you nominating him for the Hall of Fame.
Injury Update
Johnny’s rookie receiver Charlie Rogers broke his collarbone in training last Tuesday and will be out from 4 to 8 weeks. Worse news for Dave G who has become the scourge of the Franchise player. Already having lost Qadry Ismail to a concussion induced retirement, Mike Alstott has been placed on IR with a neck injury. Dave will be able to replace him at Trading Day 2 (November 16th) but he’ll need to change another player to free up some money as he has to pay Alstott’s Franchise salary until the end of the year. To make matters worse for Dave the first pick in this years draft Marshall Fulk is still out with an injury. Aaron’s Eric Moulds missed the Buffalo loss with a groin injury and Jake Plummer (Phil) missed the Denver win over Pittsburgh. Meanwhile on the franchise front there is good news for Daz’s WR Jerry Porter, he may be able to return next week. Not such good news for David Stamp’s QB Michael Vick, he wont play the Rams tonight - his target return game.
