2003 Season - Week 4
Trading Day 1
If you managed to get two key players in the first round and with the last pick of the draft, spend $6 million on them and then see them score 6 points (combined) through 4 weeks, you’ll be looking forward to Trading Day 1. Certainly Chief is. It’s at BUMS HQ starting at 4pm this Sunday prior to week 5’s games. Once the Trades have been made Cheryl will be serving some of her fine fayre while you can view the ESPN show Sunday NFL Countdown on NASN. This will be followed at 6pm by Miami at the NY Giants, and Detroit at San Francisco. Stay as long as you like. Let me know if you are intending to be here so Cheryl can organise food and I can organise how you can trade if you can’t make it. So far I have Aaron, Andy H, AP, Cheryl, David S, Gareth and Ron down for food with Johnny and Wayne (presumably) unable to join in. How about the other 7, is you in or is you out?
Trading Day 1 Additions
If you were looking to draft San Diego Tight End Justin Peelle and couldn’t understand why he wasn’t available worry no longer. Any offensive player who has scored a point in the first 4 weeks who wasn’t on the original player sheet is now available for selection. If any new players score in the Sunday and Monday Night matches they will be added in the Thursday update. Last year AP picked up Clinton Portis in Trading Day 1 so it’s worth checking out the spreadsheet attached.
Trading Day Rules
Just a quick reminder of the rules. Each owner cuts all the players he wants to get rid of in one go, starting with the player with the lowest score and through to the owner with the highest score. These players are then made available for selection together with the original player pool and the new additions. The player with the lowest score then starts the re-draft picking one player at a time as per the draft until everyone has a full roster. Remember you must stick within the $10m budget and if you cut a Franchise man you have to pay him for the rest of his contract. Ron will be cutting and picking first as he has the lowest score of all 16 owners and no-one left to play. With 22 BUMS players still to play the order after Ron will be announced on Thursday.
BUMS on Seats
We’re at Andy H’s from 6pm on Wednesday to see his beloved Bears open their new stadium as they host Green Bay in one of the NFL’s classic match-ups. The Concession King is doing food (a rather tasty Shepherds Pie I believe) so if you fancy it let him know by email that you are coming. If not then we hope to see you at HQ on Sunday for a 4pm start.
