2003 Season - Week 1
A Painful Opener - Part 1
The first weekend of the season was a painful experience for many. Kurt Warner suffered a concussion but Mike Martz continued to send him out for the second half. The result was 6, fumbles and a loss. Marcus was devastated to hear his first round draft pick is to be benched and Marc Bulger will start. Many say Martz is the one who should be benched, permanently.
A Painful Opener - Part 2
Despite the Rams woe’s against New York, Ron could not take advantage as his kicker Mike Hollis was placed on IR by the Giants the day after our draft & will miss the season.
A Painful Opener - Part 3
In Green Bay 2 BUMS receivers went down with bad injuries on the same drive. Mark’s franchise man Donald Driver landed on his head and was stretchered off the field, then Chief’s Robert Ferguson was tackled on the 1-yard line and suffered a twisted knee & ankle.
A Painful Opener - Part 4
Only Paul, Phil & John can be happy with their NFL teams performances in week 1. The Bills looked particularly impressive dismantling New England 31-0 while the Titans beat Oakland on Sunday Night. Although Denver won Aaron & Dave G must have concerns about Jake Plummer (12 of 25 for 115yds, 3 Ints). While pleased with a ‘W’ AP & Daz must be worried about the Redskins second half performance against The Jets Reserves. Yes Wayne the Lions won (a novelty) but it was only the Cardinals (they are showing promise). For Cheryl (St Louis), David S & Johnny (Miami), Gareth, Marcus & Mark (Oakland) and Ron (NY Jets) it was a bad day. But it could be worse, we could be Andy H, did you see those Bears on Sunday night, they were truly dreadful. Still at least H is in pole promotion position. After week one he has a 14 point lead over Cheryl and is 24 points clear of the promotion line. AP leads the Premiership after a very balanced performance, only Peerless Price failed to score for him. He has 41 points, 8 ahead of Mark. See the table attached.
Reasons To Be Cheerful - Part 1
Sky will be showing double-headers nearly every week and provided there is one on Sunday Oct 5th Trading Day 1 will be held at 4pm on that day prior to week 5’s games. As announced last week if it’s only a 9pm game Sky broadcast then Trading Day will be on Sunday Oct 12th provided they show a doubleheader that day. We are at BUMS HQ from 6pm on Sunday for Buffalo @ Jacksonville followed by New England @ Philadelphia. Channel 5 are showing extended highlights of the Sunday Night game after the Monday Night Game on Wednesday morning (if you follow me) so tables will come out on Monday minus the Sunday Night scores with an end of week update on Thursday.
