2003 Season - Week 16

SevenT-Up

Just one week after scoring 68 points AP raised the bar yet again. Lost in all the Joe Horn cellphone controversy was his 4 TD’s which helped AP set a new all-time high of 70 points. In three weeks AP has scored 80 points more than then leader Paul to tie things up with him and Gareth in second place 29 points behind Wayne. He also beat Wayne by 29 points in week 15. However his charge seems to have been stopped this week but congratulations to AP who scored 138 points in 2 weeks - that would extrapolate to a 1138 point season!! Players Hall of Fame The votes are in, the numbers counted and here’s the result. The four players joining the inaugral seven were clearly ahead of the rest. Marvin Harrison headed the 2003 class with 72 points, Randy Moss had 68, Carl Pickens 50 and Morten Anderson polled 48 points. Pro Bowl The votes are in, the numbers counted and here’s the result. 24 BUMS will appear in Hawaii in February. Paul & Wayne have 3 players each on the rosters (Steve McNair, Ahman Green & Todd Heap, Peyton Manning, Jamal Lewis & Derrick Mason respectively). Chief would have had 3 but he cut Donovan McNabb - Doh! He has Priest Holmes & Terrell Owens in. Also represented by 2 players are AP (Trent Green & Clinton Portis), Cheryl (Stephen Davis & Marvin Harrison), Dave G (Boldin & Wilkins), Johnny (Favre & McAllister), Mark (Culpepper & Chad Johnson), Ron (Gonzalez & Vanderjagt). Aaron, Andy H, David Stamp and Marcus had one player each. Phil, Daz and John failed to own a Pro Bowler. One Week To Go It’s still a 3-way fight for the final promotion spot in the Conference to see who will replace Phil, Daz and surely now the “All-time leading points scorer” Johnny. John would seem to have joined Dave G while H leads Aaron and Cheryl by just 3 and 14 points respectively. Midway through the early Sunday games Chief had a 6 point lead over Wayne, but then Wayne’s 2 backs scored twice each while Chiefs 2 receivers Owens and Jackson (who have 54 points each) both were injured. Wayne now has a 27 point lead with Manning still to go. Postseason Takes Shape We now have 8 teams confirmed for post-season play. In the AFC New England, Kansas City, Indianapolis and Tennessee are in. Baltimore lead Cinci by 1 game in the North and Denver have the lead in the final wildcard chase over Miami & The Bengals. In the NFC St Louis, Philadelphia, Carolina and Dallas are in. Minnesota (9-6) have a half game lead over Green Bay (8-6) who are also a half behind Seattle (9-6) for the 2nd wildcard place. BUMS on Seats Tonight we are at Johnny’s from 8pm to see a key AFC match-up as Denver travel to Indianapolis and we are back at Johnny’s from 6pm on Tuesday to see Oakland host Green Bay. Next Sunday it’s BUMS HQ from 6pm for the NY Jets@ Miami followed by Denver @ Green Bay. The final game of the regular season is Baltimore v Pittsburgh and we’ll be at Marks on Monday night from 6:30pm to see it and finalise the league tables.
