2003 Season - Week 14

AP sets scoring record

After 14 weeks we finally have someone in the Hall of Fame. Huge congratulations to AP who makes his 5th appearance in the Hall but more importantly he scored 68 points this week, the highest weekly total of all-time. A last second TD by his QB Trent Green meant he moved past John (67) and Daz (64). AP got 30 points from a 5 TD performance by Clinton Portis. Wayne has made a break at the top of the table after putting up 43 points so far with the Panthers Head Coach John Fox still to go. Meantime in the Conference Andy H got back into the Promotion zone after his QB finally got back to scoring ways. Due to injury and poor play Jeff Garcia hadn’t scored since week 8 but he lit up the Arizona Cardinals for 4 TD passes and 2 TD runs for 24 points. Big Up Many Stars Here are 6 true BUMS. Last week Marshall Faulk scored 3 TD’s moving him passed Walter Payton and Jim Brown into 5th place for career touchdowns. He now has 127 scores and needs 4 to pass Cris Carter. The top three are 3rd Marcus Allen (145 ), 2nd Emmitt Smith (165) and way ahead is Jerry Rice (204). Bruce Smith became the all-time sack leader as the 40 year old picked up his 199th sack in the Redskins win over the Giants to surpass Reggie White’s old record. Frank Wycheck became just the 4th Tight End to record 500 receptions - the others are Shannon Sharpe, Kellon Winslow, and Ozzie Newsome. Jerome Bettis passed Thurman Thomas for the 9th largest rushing total in NFL history. He now has 12,077 yards and is just 43 behind former Steeler Franco Harris. Deuce McAllister however was held to 69 yards rushing and had his consecutive 100 yard rushing streak halted at 9 games- that’s the 3rd best streak ever behind 11 by Marcus Allen and 14 by Barry Sanders. I hope this has made you think about top players and reminded you to get your BUMS Player Hall of Fame votes back to me. Closing date is next Monday December 15th. Marcus gets injury replacement The keen eyed of you would have noticed that last week Marcus picked up a new running back. Atlanta placed Warrick Dunn on Injured Reserve prior to week 13 which allowed Marcus to replace him with another player. He has selected New England Patriot Kevin Faulk. Keep an eye out on any of your players injuries and if they are placed on IR let me know as soon as possible. BUMS on Seats Tonight we are at BUMS HQ from 6:30pm to see the return of Michael Vick as Atlanta entertain NFC South leaders Carolina. We are back at H’s on Wednesday from 6pm to see St Louis host Cleveland. Week 15 starts at HQ on Sunday from 6pm with a top of the NFC West clash as St Louis take on Seattle followed by the Ravens at the Raiders.
