2003 Season - Week 12

What’s Wrong with K. Johnson

In the last 2 weeks, 2 Wide Receivers called K Johnson have been told they are no longer wanted. Kevin Johnson was cut by Cleveland after a feud with his Coach but was signed by Jacksonville immediately and played yesterday. The other K Johnson will not be playing at all for the rest of the season. Last Monday Tampa Bay de-activated Keyshawn essentially deciding to pay him a million dollars to stay away from the team. The Bucs line is that he had made it clear he did not want to stay in Tampa when his contract was up at year’s end & his actions over the last few weeks became such a distraction to the team they’d rather pay him to stay at home. It is a massive unprecedented decision to de-activate a player rather than cut him. The Bucs action means they can get some trade value rather than just cutting Key. It has been reported that a trade with Dallas at the seasons end is already a done deal. Trading Day 2 Winners and Losers Looking at all week 11 results the decisions made just hours before kick-off provided a 42 point swing from best to worst! Mark came out smelling of roses cutting Toomer, Betts, Garner and Fassell (0 week 11 points) and replacing them with Looker (0), Bennett (0), James (18) and Haslett (6) for a plus 24 total. AP was plus 18 after cutting Gannon (0), Mack (0) and McCants (6) and signing Green (6), Westbrook (18) and Wilson (0). Ron and Dave G were both minus 6 after the head coaches they cut won and their new bosses lost but it was Marcus who suffered the worst trading day as his new boy Terry Glenn failed to score after just-cut Shannon Sharpe scored 3 TD’s, leaving Marcus with a net minus 18. As always a full analysis of all trades will be calculated during the post season. Dave’s Big Day Dave G has made a breakaway move in the Conference. We are still looking for the first Hall of Fame score of 2003 but his 48 point total is the second highest of the season behind Chief’s 49 points in week 2. More importantly he has moved from third to first and taken a 24 point lead, which John will try to cut into with his 2 Sunday and Monday night players. BUMS on Seats It’s a very busy week so we are skipping Monday’s gathering but we will be at H’s from 6pm on Wednesday to see The Giants @ The ‘Keyshawn-less’ Bucs. H is doing food so let him know if you are going. The following evening is Thanksgiving and we are at HQ for a full Turducken feast from 5:30pm (food at 6:30) to see Detroit host Green Bay followed by Miami @ Dallas. If you haven’t booked your seat at the table and are coming let Cheryl know by Tuesday evening so she can cater for you. Then on Sunday from 6pm it’s back to HQ for Minnesota Vikings @ St Louis Rams and Cleveland Browns @ Seattle Seahawks.
