2003 Season - Week 11

We Came, We Cut, We Ate, We Saw Then we ate some more as 9 owners made it to BUMS HQ. 37 players were cut on Trading Day 2 as rosters were finalised for the Championship, Promotion or Relegation battles ahead. I hope you got who you wanted. Only H and Wayne decided not to change anyone while Johnny, as predicted last week, was very aggressive making 5 changes to his squad. The trades are attached. A big thanks to Cheryl for the excellent food which for some of us was the highlight of the evening. Chief cut McNabb only for him to have his best throwing day of the year as he threw for three TD’s. Then in the second game watched as Thomas Jones looked to take his new RB Michael Pittman’s starting job away. Doh! AP was pleased with McNabb’s performance as 2 of his TD passes went to his just acquired RB Brian Westbrook who also ran one in. Mark also made a good pick-up as Edgerrin James ran for 3 TD’s. We always look forward to laughing at the person who cuts someone only to see them score big. Sadly Marcus had already gone to bed when his former Receiver Shannon Sharpe became Jake Plummer’s favourite target as he caught 3 TD passes. Those 18 points would have put Marcus top, but he remains confident as Sharpe’s replacement Terry Glenn plays in the Sunday Night Game and Marcus expects multiple scores. Sharpe Record Talking of Shannon’s TD haul, we must congratulate him on becoming the NFL’s all-time leading scoring Tight End. He has now hit paydirt 61 times. Like Rats Off A Sinking Ship Of the 37 players cut unsurprisingly it was the troubled Raiders and Redskins who suffered the highest casualties. Oakland’s Gannon, Garner, Rice and Jolley were shown the door while in Washington it was goodbye for Spurrier, Canidate, Betts and McCants Jump On That Bandwagon 4 more Chiefs were picked (Green, Hall, Morton and Kennison) just in time for them to lose for the first time this season. Carolina, Dallas and The Jets all had 3 new players picked. All 32 NFL teams are represented with KC the most popular (9). The Rams and Seahawks have 7 players each on BUMS rosters while Buffalo, Detroit and San Diego have just one each. Thanksgiving Don’t forget we’ve a doubleheader next Thursday 27th and Cheryl will be cooking up a TurDuckEn. It starts at 5:30pm with a Thanksgiving Feast around 7pm (half-time in the Green Bay-Detroit game). Miami play Dallas from 9pm. Let Cher know if you’re coming. BUMS on Seats We are at Johnny’s on Monday from 6:30pm to see Kill 2 Bill’s as Parcells (Dallas) takes on Belichick (New England), and at H’s on Wednesday to see San Francisco @ Pittsburgh. H is doing food so let him know if you are going. Then Sunday from 6pm it’s back to HQ for New Orleans @ Philadelphia followed by Oakland @ Kansas City (ouch).
