Draftermath 2003
The Experts Choice
Thanks to all for a most enjoyable/frustrating Saturday evening. The draft (attached) has, as usual, been analysed by 7 NFL Fantasy Experts including ESPN, CBS, FoxSports and Gill Brandt the NFL Fantasy expert. Given 1 point for the highest rated player at each position, 2 for second and so on they report that Wayne will win the Papas Fritas Trophy as his team totalled just 99 points. Cheryl is the experts choice to win the Conference. See the attached Draftermath table which also ranks the teams based on last years scores.
This Year Last Year
Looking at how this years teams shape up based on the 2002 scores Chief appears to have picked the best team in defence of his championship with a team total of 572 (2002 points) while Andy H is the Conference’s winner, his team scoring 533 points. As mentioned the full table is attached and shows that David Stamp’s team is the lowest scorers, but it does include two rookies. The concern is that both rookies will play as much as his injured QB.
A Papas Fritas Full of Rejects
After we have drafted our 128 BUMS players there is a $10mill team of unchosen players who would have scored 506 points last year. That’s good enough to finish 4th in the Premiership and 2nd in the Conference. The unwanted team are QB Drew Bledsoe (84), RB Garrison Hearst (54) & Marcel Shipp (54), Receivers Curtis Conway (42), Andre Davis (42) & Travis Taylor (36), Kicker Sebastien Janikowski (128) and Coach Bill Callahan (66).
Most Fancied NFL Teams
Green Bay was the most popular team this year with 7 selections (Favre, Green, Driver, Ferguson, Franks, Longwell & Sherman). Demonstrating the NFL’s parity 4 teams have 6 players on BUMS rosters & 10 teams have 5. Only Arizona failed to trouble the draft board.
BUMS on Seats
So the scene is set for Thursdays Kick Off Classic a grudge match as The Jets travel to Washington. We will be at Johnny’s on Friday from 7:30pm to see the game in full. Then on Sunday Sky will be showing doubleheaders throughout September starting this Sunday from 6pm at BUMS HQ for Minnesota @ Green Bay followed by Chicago @ San Francisco. In all 19 BUMS players will be on display next Sunday. Monday Night Games (C5 early Wed) will be recorded & we’ll get together on Wednesday evenings to watch them as live so scores will be sent out on Monday and updated later in the week.
Trading Day 1.
This will be before either week 5 or 6 depending on Sky’s October scheduling. If neither are doubleheader shows then trading day 1 will be before week 5.
