2002 Season - Week 2

Hall of Fame

A big congratulations to Daz whose QB Tom Brady threw 3 TD passes for New England on Monday Night leaving him with a 50 point week and his first qualification into the HoF. Daz becomes the 10th owner to be honoured but he’s some way behind Mark who has 6 Hall of Fame entries (see attached). Congratulations to All As mentioned in last weeks newsletter the start to the season had seen a bumper crop of scores and with 9 BUMS players still to play on MNF we were within 6 points of our all-time highest combined weekly score. With 5 minutes left in the first quarter both QB’s had thrown a TD and with both kickers making the PAT’s our total stood at a new high of 486 points. The 500 point barrier was next to fall, as Brady (Daz) hooked up with Branch (H) and Peterson (Marcus) kicked the PAT half way through the third quarter. The only target left was the highest average score of 32.0 points which was set by the 11 BUMS owners in week 4 of 1997. To match that we needed to get to 512 points and after Vinatieri kicked 2 Field Goals we had 9 minutes 32 seconds to score 3 points. A Field Goal from either kicker or a TD pass from either QB would lift us to 512. But for the next 9 and a half minutes neither team scored. With 1 second left Kordell Stewart was knocked out of bounds at the Patriot 1 yard line leaving one final play. Kordell made the QB sneak and Todd Peterson added he point after giving us a weekly total of 516 and a record average of 32.25 points. A big shout to everyone, but let’s not rest on our laurels, this week we’ve only scored 317 so far (an ave of 23.12) with just 4 Eagles and 3 Redskins to play on Monday Night. Trading Day 1 If you’ve posted a low score this week and have already identified the dead wood in your team it’s just 2 weeks before you can replace them with any rising stars you’ve spotted. Trading Day 1 is on Saturday October 5th at 7pm at BUMS HQ. Put it in your diary!! BUMS on Seats On Wednesday we’ll be at H’s in Perivale to see the NFC East MNF clash from C5’s Tuesday night’s coverage. We’ll be rolling the Video Tape at around 7:15pm. Then next Sunday we are at BUMS HQ from 9pm for Sky’s coverage of the Redskins visit to San Francisco.
