2002 Season - Week 16

One Week Left

And still most BUMS positions are up for grabs. In the battle for the Papas Fritas Chief & David S have both suddenly been attacked with last minute nerves, but Johnny was unable to take advantage of their poor scoring. It’s been left to Wayne to make a serious move after a Hall of Fame 52 point performance. Top scoring this week with 46 points he is just 2 points behind David and 15 behind the Chief. Though Stampy has his kicker and Chief his Head Coach still to play. At the bottom two spots will go to either Cheryl, Mark or Andy H although Andy and Cheryl have 3 players left to play and Mark only one this could go down to next week as Andy H is just 7 points above the safety line. It’s still a three-way battle for the two promotion spots to join Phil in the Conference. AP is 17 points ahead of Ron who is just 5 behind John who sits in the final promotion place. All have 2 players each left to play. AFC Remains Chaos NFC sorted (nearly) Things will be a little clearer in the AFC if the Jets lose to New England in the Sunday Night Game. That would eliminate both the Jets and Baltimore from the play-off possibilities. Both Buffalo and Jacksonville were eliminated after their losses on Sunday. Victories for Oakland and Tennessee saw them take the AFC West and AFC South championships but at the moment 10 AFC teams are still chasing the 4 other postseason berths. Pittsburgh can win the AFC North if they win in Tampa on Monday night. In the NFC with the Eagles, Bucs, Packers and 49’ers as division winners the only the wild cards are to be decided where the Falcons and Giants are now in control after New Orleans shock loss in Cincinnati. For the Saints to get in they have to win and have either the Falcons or Giants lose next week but as Johnny accurately said “Anyone who looses to Cincinnati deserves to be knocked out of the play-offs”. Relegation-Zone Replacements As they battle with Cheryl to stay out of the drop spots both Mark and Andy H have seen their second year Franchise players placed on IR. They have to pay them until the end of this season as well as pay their new players but both had enough spare cash to make the moves. Mark replaced KC kicker Morten Andersen with Titan Joe Nedney while H’s Carolina RB Lamar Smith has been replaced by Colt new boy James Mungro. BUMS on Seats 6pm tonight at H’s is the important AFC East Sunday night game featuring the Jets @ the Patriots. Channel 5 are showing the Monday Night Game (Pittsburgh @ Tampa Bay) live at around 2am Tuesday morning but due to Xmas we will not be getting together until next Sunday at BUMS HQ from 6pm for Sky’s Week 17 doubleheader.
