2002 Season - Week 14

New Highest Ever Weekly Score

Hall of Fame appearances have become an almost weekly occurrence this year. We’ve had 10 this season (the previous record for one year was 6 in 1999) and have to go back to week 9 to find a week without one. John Botten is proud to hold the dubious honour of being the first owner to enter the Hall of Shame when he scored 0 points in week 6 of 1996. Six and a half seasons later he can now count himself not just amongst the Hall of Famers but the Weekly Record Holder as he scored 67 points yesterday (3 more than Daz’s old record set 2 weeks ago. However John needs to be wary of next week. Daz was last week held to 20 points (all scored in the Sunday and Monday night games) while last weeks Hall of Famer AP is currently on just 3 points with Bubba Franks playing Sunday night and his kicker Olindo Mare to play on Monday Night. Also Cheryl is on for a Hall of Shame week but has RB Michael Bennett and kicker Ryan Longwell playing Sunday night. League Standings Update Each week the picture changes but doesn’t necessarily clarify. After last weeks Hall of Fame performance it seemed AP would join Phil moving up into the Premiership but after John’s record points performance and AP’s zero so far they are still scrapping with Ron for the final 2 spots. It looks like second year man Aaron is going to have to try again next year to join the big league. Cheryl’s blank sheet looks like dropping her into serious relegation problems while Daz and Marcus try to pull away. Paul has a small gap while H and Mark continue to straddle the relegation line. Meanwhile at the top David S and Gareth are tied for first with QB less Johnny still playing good ball but Wayne has dropped off the pace a little. Offensive Overload Continues This year it’s points a go-go. David S or Gareth need 131 points over the final 3 weeks to beat Johnny’s all-time highest season total of 574 set back in 1995 (when we had just 6 owners). At present they are on pace for 538 which would be the third highest total ever 19 points behind Gareth’s 1995 runners-up tally. Collectively we have scored 5,843 points so far in 2002 and are on course to smash last year’s record of 6,611. We’ve scored an average of 365 per owner and with three weeks left we will be close to beating the average record set in 1995 when their were just 6 owners to share out all the good players. BUMS NFL Players Hall Of Fame Half the votes are in and two players look set with 5 other places up for grabs. Remember I need your votes in by this Saturday 14th December.
