2002 Season - Week 13
BUMS NFL Players Hall Of Fame
I am pleased to announce a new element to the BUMS academy as later this week voting papers will be sent to all owners for you to chose 7 players to enter the inaugral Players Hall of Fame. 34 players qualified for consideration (at least 5 seasons on a BUMS roster). Much discussion has reduced this to the 15 nominee’s and you will need to select your top five.
Another Week Another Hall of Famer
Week 17 way back in 1996 was the last time he made the Hall but a big congratulations to AP who becomes the 9th Hall of Famer this season. AP made it with a great team effort. He still has Anthony Becht to play on MNF but all 7 of his players scored yesterday. A great all-round performance saw AP total 51 points moving him into a strong promotion position.
Into the Final Quarter
With 12 of 16 games played it’s still really close in the AFC with 10 or 11 teams still within a game of home-field advantage (and only 6 will make the play-offs). In the NFC Green Bay (at the third attempt) became the first team to qualify for the play-off’s while Philadelphia and San Francisco look like locks in their divisions, leaving the three way battle between Tampa Bay, Atlanta and New Orleans to sort out the NFC South and probably provide the two NFC Wildcard teams. In the BUMS Premiership, Johnny suffers without Donovan McNabb and Deuce McAllister and the top 3 are pulling away. At the bottom Dave G is missing Brian Griese and looks to be heading for the drop, but the other two spots could be filled by any of 6 owners (though Johnny is also looking over his shoulder as he limps along). In the Conference Phil still looks as good as Phili and San Fran but AP’s big week sets him up while Aaron seems to be dropping off the pace. That could leave Ron or John to grab the last promotion spot. How important could Tennessee’s OT win over NY Giants yesterday be? Ron has the Titans Head Coach, John the Giants!
Gridiron TV Heaven
We are currently in the middle of the biggest live televised NFL weekend ever in the UK with three out of five week 13 games shown so far. A big shout out to Cheryl for the most excellent Thanksgiving Day dinner she served up on Friday as we watched the traditional games in Detroit and Dallas. This weekend it’s quantity not quality as yesterday saw one of the worst examples of Football we’ve ever witnessed as Indianapolis shut out Houston.
BUMS on Seats
Tonight from 7:30pm the very important Sunday night NFC South clash between Tampa Bay and New Orleans is at Johnny’s, then on Wednesday it’s two teams on a roll on Monday Night Football as Oakland entertain NY Jets, from 6:30pm at BUMS HQ.
