2002 Season - Week 11
Trading Day 2
So did you get who you wanted? Sunday witnessed 8 hours of NFL nonsense as Trading Day 2 was followed by a Sky doubleheader. Thanks from the 8 BUMS present to Cheryl for her (as always) top notch scram. In all 26 players were cut with the Receiver position causing chaos as 16 receivers were shown the door. Despite leading their division Philadelphia were the most unloved team losing three players. Can the BUMS read into the future? See injuries below. The most popular team were Pittsburgh with 4 new Steelers joining the BUMS. Maybe we are not so clairvoyant after all - again see below.
Injuries
Week 11 has proved a tough one on BUMS players. Johnny waits on news of his QB as Donovan McNabb broke his ankle early in the Eagles game against Arizona. He stayed in and went on to throw 4 TD passes but after he came out with just 5 minutes to go X-rays revealed the fracture. Initial reports are he could miss the rest of the regular season but may be back for the play-offs. The BUMS injury rule states that after Trading Day 2 you can replace any player who is placed on Injured Reserve. As Donovan may be back for the play-offs Phili may decide to keep him active even though he will not play for 6-8 weeks. In that scenario Johnny cannot cut him. If you see that one of your players has been put on IR give the Chief a ring to organise a replacement. Three players were stretchered off the field, Dave G’s QB Brian Griese with a knee sprain and Marcus’ receiver Az-Zahir Hakim with a hip injury but both injuries were overshadowed by Cheryl’s new QB Tommy Maddox who was unable to move his limbs after a collision in Tennessee. Latest reports from hospital are that he had regained his motor skills. Let’s hope all four make swift and full recoveries. Cheryl has cursed all her QB’s this season, her franchise man Grbac retired, her first trade pick-up Miller went down to tendentious and now this. AP is similarly cursing Head Coaches. On Trading Day 1 he cut Minnesota’s Mike Tice (0-4) who has gone on to win 3 games. He picked up 3-0 Carolina coach John Foxx who then lost 5 straight so he’s swapped to Pittsburgh’s Bill Cowher unbeaten in 5 games and they not only lose Maddox but they lost the game to Tennessee!
