2001 Season - Week 3

Gully Gets Going

After amassing just 17 points in the first two weeks of the season Gully finally woke up to post the week’s highest total with a superb 47 points. He finished just 3 points of the Hall of Fame while The Chief continues to reign and needs (an unlikely) 2 TD’s from Jets WR Laveraneus Coles on MNF to enter the Hall for the first time since week 16 1995. Premiership Vs Conference As mentioned last season this is the final year of having just one division as the bottom 5 at the end of this season will be cast adrift into The Conference. The Premiership winner will be crowned Papas Fritas Champion each year but don’t despair if you get relegated as 3 teams will be promoted and relegated each year, giving you a 60% chance of returning to the Premiership after one year. This will ensure more Owners are fully involved in the action into the last week of the season. At the moment injury hit Phil and John seem to be struggling but a change to their rosters in two weeks is sure to help. Trading Day 1 Clarification As mentioned last week Trading Day 1 is at 4pm, Sunday 14th October prior to a Sky Doubleheader featuring Tampa Bay @ Tennessee followed by Miami @ The Jets. Trading Day 2 will be the weekend of November 17th-18th. For the new players, and those who cannot remember, here’s how Trading Day works. Starting with last place through to first, owners give up all the players they are cutting and receive those players prices back into their budget unless the player cut is a Franchise Player. You Franchised him for 2 years and have to pay his wages for that time. Once all players have been returned to the player pool, these plus undrafted players and the new scorers are then available for drafting. The draft is held in the same way as the pre-season draft except owners only draft for the set number of rounds it takes to replenish their roster. Any Franchise player cut is available to other owners at his 2001 and not his franchise price. A full list of prices and new players available will be sent out after next weekends games. Hall Of Shame - Again Last week Phil’s injury hit team escaped the Hall when his Head Coach Mike Sherman scored 6 points on Monday Night. If Garrison Hearst fails to score for San Fran on Monday Night John Botten will become the first owner to be placed in the Hall on 2 occasions. Monday Night Football San Francisco @ NY Jets will be watched as live at BUM’s HQ on Wednesday from 7:30pm. As in previous years the league table will be produced without the MNF scoring.
