Draftermath 2001
5-1, 5-1
What a fantastic evening Saturday was. Firstly we seriously embarrassed the Germans, in their own back yard, then I drafted one of, if not, THE greatest fantasy football team ever witnessed. Hopefully you got all the players you wanted but if not you should be able to make amends at one of the 2 trading days, October 14th and November 17th or 18th. In the meantime the teams you drafted are attached and will start playing on Sunday.
A Papas Fritas Full of Rejects
Perhaps it was inevitable as we expanded by two more teams this year but there were very few top scorers left on the shelf. This year’s undrafted team features QB Kordell Stewart (75 points scored last year), RB’s Michael Pittman (36) and Tony Richardson (36), Receivers Willie Jackson (36) and Derrick Mason (36), Tight End Jackie Harris (32), Kicker Ryan Longwell (131) and Coach Brian Billick (72). A grand total of 379 (2000 points) which would’ve finished just 10th last year, for a bank breaking £11.5million.
The Experts Choice
NFL Fantasy Experts have reported back on our draft and claim that with one proviso the best team was chosen by Johnny. If Terrell Davis starts & stays healthy he’ll return to his 1997/’98 numbers (228 points) to go with franchise back Edgerrin James (222 points the last 2 years) and Donovan McNabb throwing to Wide Outs Terrell Owens & Isaac Bruce. The highest rated player undrafted was the 29th best player, 12th ranked running back Duce Staley. I guess the Eagles foot injury from last year scared most owners off. The attached spreadsheet shows how the experts ranked the players and who got who.
This Year Last Year
Looking at how this years teams shape up based on the 2000 scores Andy H appears to have picked the best team with a team total of 524 (2000 points) just a single point ahead of Johnny. The full table is attached and shows injury hit John Botten 15th and Wayne last having selected 4 players who will be playing in the NFL for the first time this year.
Most Fancied Team
Oakland have proved to be the most popular team this year with 8 players playing BUMS football (half of them in Marcus’s team)! High octane offences Denver, Minnesota and St Louis are represented by 7 players each, along with Tampa Bay. Green Bay, Indianapolis and The Giants have 6 selections each while Superbowl winning Baltimore only have 4. For the first time ever all teams are represented with Arizona (Daz’s WR Dave Boston) and Chicago (Wayne’s rookie WR David Terrell) supplying one player each. So the scene is set for Sunday 9pm at BUMS HQ for the Rams & Eagles. Monday Night Games (C5 early
Wed) will be recorded & we’ll get together on Wednesday evenings to watch them as live.
