2000 Season - Week 17

REPEAT

Congratulations to Mark who became the first person to win the Papas Fritas Trophy twice. Not only has he won it twice but he successfully defended it from Andy H who put in a gallant effort but finished in the runners up spot, his highest ever finish. Mark won the trophy thanks to an NFL record season from Marshall Faulk. The Rams back broke Emmitt Smiths 5 year old record of 25 TD’s in a season. Faulk finished with 26, scoring 11 of them in the final 3 weeks of the season. The 66 BUMS points Faulk scored in just 3 weeks was more than any other player scored in the whole season except for 5 backs :-Edgerrin James, Eddie George, Lamar Smith James Stewart and Curtis Martin. And what’s more frightening, Marshall was in just the first year of his Franchise Player designation with Mark. What are the odd’s of a Three-Peat? BUMS Play-Offs The same rules as last year apply with one QB, one kicker and any FOUR outfield players to be selected within a budget of $7.5 million using the same player prices as the regular season. (See attached spreadsheet). As always best qualifier plays worst and so on, so the Wildcard Round games are follows:- Johnny v David S, Phil v Gareth, Paul v Daz, Marcus v John, Cheryl v AP and Gully v Dave G. Get your teams back to me by noon on Saturday so we can sort out any swaps needed. If scores are tied at the end of the games the tie-breaker is the player that scored latest in any game. Mark and H get the Bye week. Postseason Action In the AFC the champs are Tennessee (Central @13-3) and Oakland (West 12-4) with bye weeks and Miami (East 11-5) playing in the wildcards with Baltimore (12-4), Denver (11-5) and Indianapolis (10-6). In the NFC the champs are NY Giants (East 12-4) and Minnesota (Central 11-5) with bye weeks and New Orleans (11-5) playing in the wildcards with Philadelphia (11-5), St Louis (10-6) and Tampa Bay (10-6). BUMS on SEATS Every play-off game will be shown on Sky which means double headers on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th and Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th. That’s 14 hours of gridiron each weekend. Did I just die and go to heaven? On Saturday we are at Andy H’s from 5:00pm for Indianapolis @ Miami followed by St Louis @ New Orleans. On Sunday it’s New Years Eve and I’ve got a life so sort your own viewing arrangements out.
